It's thier 'breaking news' and 'top story' that Arsenal have opened talks with us over him.

It's going to happen. Perhaps we'll swap him for Nasri

Arsenal & Wenger are such hypocrites. They cry all over the place when their players are being talked about by other managers, but they are forever dropping gossip to the media and sky when they are after players.

Still got a feeling AOC won't leave us unless Man Utd put in a good bid. He'd be much better off going to Old Trafford than Arsenal. I think Arsenal are on the verge of imploding on and off the pitch.

Surely that is a bit difficult to talk to Saints with Ceo out of the country until tomorrow? (Or is it today he is back)

God I hate Sky Sports News. We all know AOC is off to Arsenal, can they just get on with it?

Sky Sports just wants stories, thats fair enough.
But, I really dislike Mark Chamberlain, him & Theo's dad must play poker together or something!
    Show, me, the, money.....

You have hit the nail on the head fella. Sky Sports showed an interview with Mark Chamberlain which was ages old in which he states that his son would be better off at Arsenal. To be frank I got the impression that he was being persuaded by money and to be honest he doesnt sound like an intelligent man, if he was he would realise that his son's career is in safe hands at Saints at least for another year or two.
It boils down to whether the Chamberlains are just after the money or do they want Alex to be the England star of the future. If its the second option he should stay at Saints.
This episode will tell us a lot about the state of the club. Having been told that we are not a selling club any more that we are the fifth richest club in the land, what is in it for Saints to sell Oxo in the bigger scheme of things. You cant buy talent like that, only sell it to the great and the good of the football world.
Do Saints have the ambition to pull themselves out of the mediocre pack of clubs that make up the bulk of ther Premiership if so they need to hold on to Oxo and any other talents like Luke Shaw.Did Cortese mean what he said in his last big interview in which he claimed to have binned all attempts to open negotiations for Oxlade-Chamberlain or was it all just waffle. Is the reality that with Liebherr's death the funds have dried up or is the so-called five year plan truly still in place??
Sky Sports News did not make good reading for Saints fans this morning it seems a case of deja vu with Arsenal muscling in and virtually demand that we transfer our best player to them. I wont be in a hurry to buy a season ticket this situation needs clarfying by Mr Cortese.

Will selling AOC be clarification enough, because I don't think Cortese will ever reveal the financial situation of the club to the fans. To do so would be tantamount to suicide.

Hope he stays, but if he moves we should shrug and move on. This has taken up too much of our time already. The important question is who are we bringing in. On a side note, see the England U17s have progressed in World Cup after beating Argentina in a penalty shootout! Now we play Germany..oh!

Hopefully Cortese will insist we get to keep him on loan for this season (if he does sign for the Arse) as I can't see him starting many Prem games, or being on the bench for that matter.

At least here he'll get regular matches and experience. (and goals, lots of goals!)

Hopefully Cortese is pig headed enough to tell Arsenal to shove it. He has already not had the best of relationships with Wenger over his last approaches...

Cortese doesnt do loans and does not like Wenger anyhow. So not going to happen. If he goes it will be for cash and a lot of it but I just hope that Oxo himself wants to stay at Saints he has been happy there he is making sifnificant progress and does not need a career move right now. He is very young to be saddled with a huge price tag, Bale and Walcott found this out to their cost. Not a good idea.

At the moment, the Island games are just finishing. Closing ceremony in Cowes today. 25 Islands from all over the world compete in a wide range of sports. Newport had the football and swimming. Played in the real spirit of sport. Next games are in Bermuda...that should be good.

Sorry that came over a bit random..was replying to David Smith

I think I'm right in saying that Alex listens more to his mum that his dad anyhow.

pretty sure she said she would like him to stay at Saints.

Yeh, watched that Fran as all of the games from the U17s World Cup are streamed live on the FIFA website which is quite handy. We were all over them so would have been a bit harsh if we'd gone out on pens. As you say, another old foe in the QFs now and for anybody interested the game will be streamed live at 21:00 on Monday night at http://www.fifa.com/u17worldcup/index.html
