It's just baffling why Rodgers seems to do this always. He gets an idea in his head, it doesn't work, and the whole world cries out for him to stop doing the one stupid thing slowing us down (playing Gerrard as a DM and playing one striker). He then proceeds to persist with it for months before he finally gets it through his thick skull that maybe it isn't working and he changes it to a mighty applause, getting plaudits for being tactically astute enough to make a change. I love BR and I support him but he's done this regularly since he arrived and he needs to be more proactive in making a change. This game, it's clear that we are not pressing, we aren't running, we're sitting back and passing it pointlessly like a Rafa wet dream. More energy, more pressing is needed. Also, not that we've deserved anything, but the referee and commentators are spewing bullshit left and right. Balotelli gets a "soft" freekick after the player kicks his entire shin from the knee down to get to the ball and they're complaining. Clueless.
He needs informing of a lot more than just the offside rule. You'd have thought his mum would have taught him to use his legs!!!!
Mine taught me to use a knife and fork, but I don't think that would help him now... unless he's being coached by Suarez!
Deserved to lose. At least we have performed consistently this season, terrible performance after terrible performance. Top 4 is a mile off.
I think we should field our youngsters against Real Madrid. These European games are just getting in the way of our league cup ambitions...
boys versus infants - and we were the infants. Just bloody useless. Can't even pass now - let alone shoot!!!!
We waited 5 years for that? the only consolation is, some nippy attacking apart, Basel are nothing to write home about. That said, ordinary as they are, I have no confidence whatsoever that we can reach the level of 'ordinary'.
