If true, well deserved. Shelvey is too inconsistent imo but Dyer deserves a callup even more.

Of all the players on our team that qualify to play for England , Routledge is the one that deserves the chance imo , followed by Dyer . Routledge is more consistent and its what England needs

I am delighted for Routledge, but I don't understand the call-up in the context of Hodgson building a team for the Euro Finals. How old is Routs going to be by then, would he still be in contention? Is he just a place holder until the likes of Arsenal's Walcott are back and available. Of course, it's up to Routledge to seize this opportunity and show that he deserves to be retained. Against the likes of San Marino he could have a field day on pure speed alone.

Bit of a Hodgsons choice this! Dyer is way ahead of him in my view, but then you can never legislate for common sense in the National setups...........<ok>

Over the past 3 seasons, Routledge is definitely the one who deserves the call up the most (although they do both deserve one).

While Dyer plays well for Swansea, I think it's the Swansea system that brings it out of him. I don't see him in the mould of Routledge and Montero who use pure trickery to go past players. Dyer has matured into the sort of winger who prefers to run onto a ball or play a one-two to get in behind a defence. He's rarely gone on the long, jinking runs in the Premiership that he become renowned for in the Championship. Routledge, while a journeyman prior to Swansea, has had success in different systems and clubs, and I can see why. He has an X-factor about him. A pure ability to beat the defender in front of him with nothing but skill. He has more swag and confidence in his ability. Of the two, Routledge has always been the one that I saw with greater potential to integrate into the England set up.

I'm not convinced he's even getting a call up, but it would be nice for him to get that cap.

The player who most deserves a call - up is Leon.

Britton getting the call up with England is in the same category as Jazz getting his chance with us ,both deserve it bur ive given up on hoping and moved on .Even now as there is talk of Jazz getting that chance , I just expect him to be bypassed again

Routs is well overdue for a call up but dyer got no chance as there are much better players than him. Dyer is great for us but would be useless with any other club or system. you can say the same about leon also, great for us not so good elsewhere....routs is a more all round player that can adapt to different playing styles and at 29 years old is young enough to be part of the English set up should he get the chance....

Jonjo doesn't deserve a call up yet imo. With a fully fit squad he won't get in my starting 11. It's bloody criminal that Leon, Routs and Dyer haven't got call ups.

Leon is past his sell by date now and has been unlucky that there have been others preferred when he was in his prime....

Disagree Dai. There is still no English player in any position that can control the ball and pass it with such accuracy under pressure than Leon.

I would never go as far as saying that. Beckham was one of the best passers i have ever seen and there are plenty others who have more strength in them than leon...Leon unfortunately reached his prime in the championship and he was never considered at that level. The premiership came too late in his career when he was not as good as some others in bigger teams....His size and dyers has been an issue in today's modern game...

Dai, re read the post, Beckham etc have retired. I would say Leon hit his peak during our first season in the PL. He has proved time and time again he is/was the real deal.
Leon is for me, still the best ball controller currently available for England, and was much better than Barry, Milner and Cleverly et al <ok>

Love Leon but I just think he's one of those players who fits with us. Not sure he's ever going to be effective elsewhere. For England read the Blades.
