i'd propose a random order. let the game arranger put the names in a list and hell pick every third person.. put them at risk and then see what occurs. tif nothing occurs CHANGE.

 

Hmmm... only 11 people... that's more than Mafia 1... hopefully we can pick up 4 or 5 more in the next few days before the game starts.

Now we've played a couple of games the mafia should be aware of the tactic of being suspicious about uncontested votes. Let's say one of the mafia is up for vote, maybe they will have the bottle to hold out and hope innocents get suspicious and change it last minute on their own anyway, or in the worse case take the 33% or 25% chance of losing someone. Only the don would be necessary to save (and I hope the game is changed anyway because killing the don is basically winning the game which is too random and easy)

 

Here's some random ideas that popped into my head, might be crap;

How about splitting the town investigators into cop/s and detective/s. A cop is publically known (the uniform is a clue) while a detective is hidden as usual.

Maybe the cop/s could be randomly chosen first, and then the mafia/town roles so a cop could start out bent and mafia. Maybe even be the don (or whatever the new mafia boss is).

Maybe an attempted assassination on a cop results in a shootout where it's a coinflip whether he survives or not.

Of course, should one of those be mafia there would be a change in voting somewhere along the line but if none of them are mafia then it makes the mafia's job very easy in the opening round.

 

That's why the 1 vote per player tactic is mathematically perfect, EVERY mafia player is guaranateed to be at risk
