I'd love to know what I posted that was so offensive? I have no idea what Thor posted, I never saw it, but it could not have been any worse than the Xenophobic pish he's been posting on here for weeks which has basically gone unmoderated.

You are free to moderate to your heart's content, it's your board, but please don't delete my posts simply to level things out when he posts something you find objectionable. <ok>

I deleted your post because it quoted Thor's. It would've been utterly pointless to do one and not the other.

We had a delicate sitution here Dev. I think my fellow mods kept out of it because I was so heavily involved and for me it was difficult because it could have looked that I was using my Mod powers to delete political views I did not agree with. I did however delete some TMT posts because they were Xenophibic rubbish.

I agree with PNP, you have to delete the post in a reply as well as the original otherwise the action is pointless.

For what it's worth, Dev, a couple of us came on to point out that, although we may disagree over the viability of Scottish independence, we in no way subscribe to the views that were expressed.

I tried to divorce myself from it too, but I guess my mail quoted the wrong one too.

People might be interested to know that SNP membership has gone from 25,642 on the 18th September to 75,000 plus and growing. I and many others have joined to continue the democratic process that has awoken in Scotland.

Let us know when you reach the equivalent of Labours' "bigot-gate" 29% .

So that's about 2% of those who voted, then? It'll be interesting to see what the party is actually about, now that it's whole raison d'etre has basically flopped.

When 29% of the electorate will vote for you no matter what stupid things you say or do,

Your 2% comment suggests that you have an agenda PNP as no party has large percentages of the electorate as a membership (In fact 2% represents more density than any other party in the UK). Perhaps comparing it to the Scottish Labour Party would be more relevant. The Labour Party in Scotland appears to have less then 6000 (Six Thousand) members and that has been sufficient in the past to sustain a dominant position in Scotland for Labour. Compared to the SNP's 75'000 (Seventy Five Thousand) we can see the political change that has taken place in Scotland, bearing in mind that these people will pretty much all be activists.

Your view that the SNP's raison d'etre has flopped is true in the sense of losing the referendum, however the 45% vote achieved is a 90% increase on the previous position and we have good reason to believe that 25% of those who voted No are already regretting that decision. Add to that the trippling of SNP membership and the word flop looks incrreasingly out of place.

As for policy you just have to look at their record over the last 7 years as the Scottish Government to see where they are coming from, the best description would be Social Democracy in the modern European mould. The kind of party that is common throughout Europe. It remains to be seen how the huge influx of new members will affect policy (bearing in mind that policy in the SNP is a fully democratic, one member one vote process.

LIke voting No to Independence as an example, or continuing to vote for a Labour party that has long since ceased to be anything other than a pale copy of the Tories. Perhaps voting for UKIP because you don't like Cameron, or not voting for Independence because you don't like Salmond.

When a large proportion of the electorate resemble sheep and don't even want to engage what little brain power they have, it is not surprising that 29% might behave as you suggest, is it.

    I have an agenda?! <laugh>
My point was that this number of new members is absolutely irrelevant and based upon a recent one-off event.
As you point out yourself, most parties don't have or need this kind of membership to get MPs elected.

    Completely baseless claim.

A 90% increase on what position? Are you comparing the referendum's result to that of early polls?
What reason do you have to believe that 25% of No voters regret their decision?

The bolding shows my point and that you already knew what I was referring to.

Hey I don't have time to go through that lot, come to Scotland and I will show you the basis of my comments. I have never been a member of any political party in my life before and I have that in common with most of these new members. The only reason I put this info up is to inform people in England who otherwise will not know what is going on in Scotland. It is pretty pointless in getting into another debate with people who are badly informed (through no fault of their own). I will continue to put up info for people to see and use in whatever way might suit them.

But good to know the SNP can count on them for support, no.

You seem to think that anyone who doesn't share your opinion is badly informed, Spurf.
It's entirely possible to have the same information and different opinions, you know.
