Phew indeed. Vydra's goal changed the game. We made Brentford look better than they are. Taxi for Fabrinni. feel sorry for Pudil, first yellow was not even a foul for me. A good old fashioned block tackle.
Agreed Bloother, and wasn't convinced about the second yellow either for Pudil but then i don't think it was a penalty! Ighalo doesn't convince me...occasionally he'll do something good but his pen was utterly predictable and he got lucky. In spite of the scrap it was a good game and enjoyable! Shame we didn't make more of our chances but we deserved the win. Great start for Billy!
I don't ever recall so many penalties being given in our matches at all. Ever. I thought the referee wasn't fit enough, was reactionary rather than proactive and was the nearest we've had to a "homer" since GT was last filling out the team sheet. We seemed to have improved our hanging on at the end from utterly desperate to mildly concerning. It was a lot better at the back, by no means perfect, but better than it has been.

Hopefully the video will be up on the Sky website later today... First half thought we created a number of decent chances and probably should have been 1-0 up earlier. I felt the penalty was a little soft, but will take that. I can see why Vydra allowed him to take it (like Deeney allowed Vydra the other week) but prefer the main penalty taker to take it if it is a close game Once again, in the lead and we tended to sit back and allow pressure. This surely isn't trained into them so must be a mental thing? If we're going to stick with the 4-2-3-1, then think we may need reinforcements in the LW and RW positions. Don't think Dyer player too well, nor Fabbrini. Would actually like to see Murray given a go on the RW position seeming he was originally a winger but has had to learn to be central after we started playing the 3-5-2. I do like the central partnership of Tozser and Munari. Not sure who will come in at LB though Saturday... Hoban?
First half was pretty good but certainly a few wrong decisions made with the final ball (Dyer, Fabbrini) but 2nd half we certainly were holding on (as usual I feel!) Vydra deserved his cracking goal but generally we can play better. Again missing key players like Deeney, FF and Angella showed us up a bit. Got the win though and as the other results last night proved that isn't easy against a decent side.

The pen is so soft, it is one you accept as a fan of that side but if given against you it is frustrating. Vydra's goal was great though! Their goal was well worked as well.
It's good to see you finally get a soft penalty, it was rather off-set however by an extremely harsh dismissal!
That was a fun game last night. Great atmosphere and some of the play was excellent; the standard in the championship is getting higher and Brentford was no exception as they have players with skill and pace. The ref though should have pulled them up for a lot more of their small niggley fouls but I suspect again (apart from the pen) that it’s down to our players going to ground to easily. Still, it was good to have a ‘local derby’ again and what a cracking goal to win it; the line-up was very positive with Fabbrini chosen in front of 2 or 3 others and in the first half he was ok although gave little or no help in defence but in the second half he just ran down blind allies or carried it one pace to far before passing or shooting and he stayed on at least 5 minutes too long and I wonder if we had made the change earlier and bolstered our midfield would we have got back control of the game and not conceded? Vydra, playing slightly behind the main striker for most of the game but he had the freedom to go anywhere and he seemed so much happier for it and others were looking for his runs and he was clearly the stand-out player even before his fantastic goal which I think will spur him into a good run now.
