How do you apply for these jobs? Where do they advertise them? I have never known how that works. The only senior football job I have ever seen advertised was years ago in the Sunday Times for the Chief Executive of Wolves - which went to Jez Moxey

I remember back in the early 90s, when we sacked Alan Dicks, Jimmy Hill placed an ad in one of the national papers for the job. The wording, if I remember rightly, was 'miracle worked needed'. The end result? We appointed, ahem, Don Mackay.

Tony Mowbray has gone from 14/1 to 3/4 favourite to be our next manager... Not sure how I feel about that.

If kit fails to get the job, for whatever reason, I personally would not want Mobrary to take over.
Who ?, but as said before he must have the club at heart with motivation to go with it, and not a pay day
for any old out of work manager.

Hmm. Mixed record, especially at Celtic, although he did okay with youngsters at Midddlesbrough. Bit dour really, which isn't of course necessarily bad, and might see some better organisation in our defence.

And anyway Kit has the two games before the next break to change those odds.

How is he any better than Kit? In terms of record he's done nothing. I dont understand what the bookmakers base their odds on?

He won the Championship with WBA, and the bookies base their odds on betting trends and inside knowledge. This could mean nobody was backing Mowbray when all of a sudden bets are coming in left, right and centre for him. It could've been that people spotted Ali Mac meeting with him or him entering Motspur Park. The odds don't necessarily mean he'll get the job, but he's at that short price for a reason.

We could do worse than Mowbray but I still think sticking with Kit is the way to go.

FI makes a good point, Kit is now odds on favourite, Hughton and Lennon are next with Mowbray after that. We probably shouldn't read too much into it.

As someone on Twitter rightly pointed out, the Fulham market probably needs very little money thrown at it to shorten odds.

Beat me to it, FulhamIreland. He was also the Scottish Football Writers' Manager of the Year when he was at Hibs, prior to West Brom.

As I recall, with West Brom he had them playing excellent attacking football in the Championship, then crashed and burned by refusing to compromise his style once they were up in the Premier League. He's had a lot of water under the bridge since then, but if that is still his philosophy, he probably isn't the man to bring order and solidity at the back.

I wouldn't like to see anyone appointed over Kit right now, but I'm not as convinced as others that Kit should get the permanent job. I think it's still too soon to make the call one way or the other on Kit. The advantage of having him as caretaker is that the club gets to have a good look at him. So far I'd say the signs are encouraging, but there's no need to make a hasty decision over him.

Some very interesting names on there. Huw Jennings should be a given really, considering his role in the club, but interesting that Murphy and McBride were included. Niall Quinn was a curve ball but I wonder if his experience working with an American owner (Ellis Short) factored in.

Now, is it a case of about time or a case of too many cooks? Time will tell, I guess!

I didn't know he won the football writers award whilst at Hibs 😜.

Looks like a good panel, although the proof is very much in the pudding.

Despite Danny's recent verbal diarrhea in the papers, he'll offer a relevant point of view as he's only recently out of the game, as the website points out.

Well, Danny's inclusion rules him out for the job. Mildly surprised, albeit very pleased, that he and Brian McBride are there since both were so publicly critical of Felix. Guess in a way that's to Khan's credit and suggests he's prepared to listen in the best interests of the Club.

It's certainly a good mix of football and business people, with that all impotant "Fulham" input across the board. As surlyc says Niall Quinn is a bit of a 'curve ball' and makes me wonder if he's destined for a future, more permanent role once the dust has settled.

The Statement doesn't explain what the actual process is - with interviews and so on - or what criterion the selection will be based on. However, at least there has been some transparency and that has to be good also.

Very interesting statement and panel. Few things struck me.

    1) The fans can't complain that the traditions haven't been respected - everyone (even Quinn in a tenuous way) has a clear connection with our club and will understand what is required from a manager to be successful with us.

    2) The statement mentions global growth. This would indicate to me that we want to not only return to the Premier League but then grow when we are there and possibly challenge for Europe (although I am guessing Europa would be the limit of ambitions here as Top 4 is really just a pipe dream).

    3) Quinn could have a role in the future and that would, for me, be very positive. he was an excellent chairman, has a good track record at building community relations and has experience from a chairman's perspective of picking managers and is seen as a good guy almost everywhere - don't know any supporter of any club who has ever had a bad word to say about him.

    4) If we can't get it right with this appointment and advisory panel then we never will.

    5) No role for Ali Mac (hardly surprising, but good news given his track record recently).

    6) Brilliant that McBride & Murphy are involved. Two inspirational Captain's with the club's best interests at heart. I remember that when the pundits recently where yukking it up about Magath and the Cheese remedy, Murphy sat there solemn-faced not joining in the jokes and saying how bad it was for the club - he was clearly hurt by what had happened to a club he cares deeply for.

Very interesting development. David Daly's a new name to me. Sounds like a potential new board member. Does anyone know of another club handling a managerial appointment in this way? It shows Khan is taking the responsibility seriously and has learned from his previous two mistakes. Hard to tell whether this strengthens or weakens Kit's position. It's probably as before. If he keeps winning games it'll go to him.

    Fulhaman's observation that the lack of a place for Ali Mac on the panel is all the more damning, looking at the announcement and this quote from Khan on the club website for Felix's appointment;

Nothing we didn't know, but isn't hindsight a wonderful thing.

Also, for those interested, Kit's odds are down to 4/7 today. Although I don't think anyone will be taken on for a couple of weeks.
