I would like Whelpdale, Lee, Kedwell, Fish and also Birchall to all join us and then a few others like a good keeper and 1 or 2 more defenders and 1 or 2 more midfielders Then that would make a great transfer window and we would have a good team,
Sure we could do that if Scally put in the money, would not break the bank.

I was reading a speculative article from 4 days ago, that said Whelpdale & Lee were more likely to be signed of the four (i.e. Fish & Kedwell).

I cannot find news on these two anywhere, I even went on to the main Poshies board and asked them, their even drawing a blank?

only issue i had with that would be just to bring in a different sort of striker/winger x2 with some pace as all the strikers are in the big strong category rather than the mcdonald jackson mould. just to give us something different. is grimes still avaliable? would also like to see a few league vets with a bit of experince (maybe the goalkeeper and midfielder) just cos if maher doesnt sign we'd have a fairly young side in terms on league experince

The teams in League 2 tend to be tall and strong. Thats why Stevenage went up. Not too much skill, but bash their way round the pitch. In my opinion they will get found out in L1 and get relegated. We,however had too many lightweight players, and you get no protection from ref's either,so it looks to me as if Hess is going more for the strong arm approach this season, and that's how Pulis got us up. I know Stimson got us promotion with a lightweight team, but I think that's the exception rather than the rule.

vinney - I agree, we need height and strength, I hate that style of football but looking at some of our games last season, it's the only way we are going to get out of this league.

We can worry about changing for League One when we get there.

Nobody is answering brb's intriguing question "why the media blackout." There could be some interesting answers. First of all the PR team may not have been paid...a real possibility at Priestfield. Secondly, under Stock Exchange rules there needs to be carefully prepared statements if information is available which might affect the share price. Could there be a takeover bid from the Venkys and the asian bookmaker? A third reason could be a politically sensitive development such as Scally marrying into the Dubai royal family. There could also be a financial development, say another season ticket sale or Kedwell may have got his mortgage for the penthouse at the Rainham End which they got him to sign for when he was drinking earlier in the week. Lastly it could just be a way of milking some publicity for some surprise signings. My money is on Chris Dickson as goalie. We all know he is hopeless up front but I have heard he is great in goal on the beach in Cyprus. Now I know the goals are a bit small especially when the beach is crowded but he is bound to be better than Stefan Payne who is the other goalkeeping rival after failing to impress on the pitch. The tension of this blackout is incredible.
