The old firm isnt a rivalry. Its two groups of subhumans eradicating each other.

Note this isn't anti scottish. Just both qpr of the north and the boston celts scottish clan have morons for fans.

Strangest rivalry - Brighton and Palace is an odd one!

45 miles apart... no real reason to be rivals and reasons are still a bit vague. Goes back to when Venables took over Palace and Alan Mullery took over Brighton and those two apparently didn't get on after Mullery got the captaincy ahead of Terry.V while playing for Spurs. How that translated into 2 sets of fans not getting on is anyone's guess!

  5. Ah, so the measurement of a rivalry is violence towards people you live with. Gotchya...<ok>

In general arsenal vs spurs and pool vs Everton are the most exciting Derbys to watch.

Like the last one, watching paint dry was more exciting.

It was a decent game. There have been the odd less exciting game between us of course, like with any teams. But that's why my first two words of my post are "In general".

So I already accounted for the boring games, thanks for your concern :)

You obviously don't know the history of our games with the mancs down the years.<laugh>

Add to the "hate" and "violence" the fact that we've played each other in semifinals and finals in cup competitions which adds to the cauldron, something that has never happened in the northeast.

But that's a regional "derby", our local derby against Everton is in the main friendly between the supporters(there has been trouble before and after it in the past though)but the trouble is usually on the pitch where there have been more red cards shown than at any other top flight local derby.

Our game can be bloody terrible to watch for the neutral you probably have last seasons 3-3 fresh in the mind.

    I am not a horse.
The Tyne wear derby hasn't needed anything to build the tension in terms competing for titles, semi finals etc.

I sense a rivalry being formed based on an argument about rivalries. <cheers>

In the US there is a stranger rivalry: DC United and Charleston Battery.

They don't even play in the same league- (one plays in an amateur league the other a professional league).
They are over 500 miles apart.
Because there is no promotion/relegation in the US they will never play each other in a competitive league fixture.

Their rivalry exists purely from friendlies and obscure cup competitions.

Yes, and the Northern rivalry rivalry is bigger than the Southern rivalry rivalry.

Liverpool Vs Man Utd rivalry VS Newcastle vs Sunderland rivalry rivalry is bigger than the Arsenal-Spurs rivalry vs Chelsea-Fulham rivalry rivalry.

Londoners are not that much into football, you can see by the small stadiums and even smaller fanbase, not forgetting very limited at winning things like league titles, CL, FC cups etc

Not at all just the mags are too thick to control their passion. Have you ever seen a makem punch a horse? But it's passion spilling over all the same. Passion fella, hatred, it's fierce. This this about rivalry <ok>

Exactly, most Man U and Liverpool fans experience of their rivalry is a football focus feature. With ours the rivalry in living room, pubs, work places and schools, it's everywhere you go. you can feel it in the air as fixture looms. Our rivalry is very special.
