So HCC set up the independent commission of enquiry? Why didn't they do something to try and persuade the voters that it would be beneficial to vote Yes? Or did they? If they did I didn't see any of it.
They should send DMD to parts of the East Riding to tell them how stupid they are for not wanting Hull's Labour council. That would do it.
Or for not reading what the commission's actually about. IF the boundary changed, the likelihood is Labour would be voted out in those areas.

There were 4 or 5 people in my office who are East Riding residents, and they were talking in extremely derogatory terms about Hull, as they described with glee how they voted against the proposals. Lording it, they were, taking their salaries from Hull. I told them that I hoped Hull would spread as far as the eye can see, swallowing up their homes and gardens and not letting them back out. I actually received a pointy finger jab to the shoulder for that, from one Anlaby resident. They don't like us.

They couldn't even if that was the main option, but the recent vote is unlikely to be acceptable to a boundary commission because, as you have so ably demonstrated, people voted on the wrong question for the wrong reasons.
So why is this political thread allowed? Do we have to allow DMD his allotted amount of time of 'lording it' before he'll close it?
I pondered that before joining in, but as it's topical and more about the areas than (arguably) party politics, I thought it ok. It's clearly a topic where extra accurate information seems to be needed. I reckon there'd be a fair few upset if I'd closed it too.
How, because you and HCC say so? You really don't see the condescension in that post? The people of the East Riding were asked a simple question and they answered it. They don't want Hull to extend its boundaries into their areas to create a Greater Hull. They said No, and the National Boundary Committee will take this into consideration if they have any respect for democracy and the people's wishes. But go ahead and sneer, I'm sure many people who live in the East Riding who visit this board will welcome your attitude regarding the in which they live in.
