I've had the same Vauxhall Corsa since 1999. It has 170k on the clock, overheats too quickly, and leaks oil, but I'll never part with the old girl.

And she's a hideous yellow/green colour, which I used to think was the business.

I tend to agree with this, T.

A car is a car as far as I'm concerned, and I will never consider buying another until my current one is either torched or pushed over a cliff.

I can't imagine many things more ****erish than watching Top Gear or reading a magazine about motors.

I can understand emotional attachment to a useful material possession, I'm quite attached to my jeans and I was really pissed off when I lost my trampy wooly hat that I'd owned for over 10 years.

I will never understand being passionate about cars, especially the ****y ones that people can't afford and make ****loads of pointless noise.

I would not choose a car mainly based on the fact I can't drive.

You should be able to get a fairly low mileage (c.40-60k) 2009-2011 Honda Civic Type R GT I-VTEC for that.

Absolutely, f**ing, smashing piece of equipment

I can dig that. Unfortunately my business requires me to have something decent. I have no issues with my current car. Other than the fact a person of my stature should have a better car.

They're too small. Did consider a JTD COUPE. They're just a bit slow in a diesel. Plus I think alfa's are unreliable.

Yeah, can understand. One of the reasons I got rid was the vulgarish look of it. Climbs the revs like an absolute beauty though

Get yourself a good second hand Mazda or Honda.
Do not buy an Alfa Romeo as they are very very ****.

They are quite pretty though so you will look nice as you sit and wait for the RAC to turn up.

You're on about a 3 series BMW though, which is no bigger.

Yeah, they're unreliable, but they're beautiful. Everyone should own an Alfa at one point in their life.

I was out with my daughter yesterday looking for a new car for her and she spotted a spider convertible. Lovely looking car but not ideal if you want to get to work on time.

I advised her to get the MX5 that was sitting next to it . <laugh>
