Didn't really want to start a new thread, so I'll just post it here. The Southampton U21s vs Norwich City U21s game is live on Youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UIkthhUHW9Y&feature=youtu.be U21s team v #SaintsFC: Killip; Ramsay, McFadden, Bassong (c), Toffolo; Hall-Johnson, Odjidja, McGrandles, Ja. Murphy; Hooper, Eaton-Collins.
Was slightly surprised Remi Matthews wasn't included, but then checked and he's not started any U21 games yet this season. Anyone know what's going on with him? He's not out on loan is he? Not a bad looking side really, I believe that's Bassong's first appearance in a Norwich shirt since Adams took over, would be nice if they've come to some kind of understanding. Going to be tuning in to see how Hooper, Odjidja and McGrandles do.
It is very nice to offer the olive branch and it shows we are willing to bury the hatchet. I am chuffed for the guy especially as he is skipper tonight... Great man management
1-0 down, unfortunately missed the goal which was apparently a 25-yarder. Felt we've looked reasonably good though, looking to play out of defence and pass the ball about a bit, rather than the counter-attacking focus that won us the youth cup.
Very good shot for the goal though there was possibly a deflection. Sloppily given away by us in middle field though. Some pretty tidy football being played by both teams.
McGrandles is playing an awful lot deeper than I expected, but I suppose with two strikers he was never likely to be played in behind them.
Finished 2-0, not a great deal to write home about really. Hooper never really in the game, neither was Odjidja. McGrandles seemed to be playing an unfamiliar role too. Would doubt those performances would give any of the regulars a reason to be worried.
I hope it's just a match fitness issue with Hooper he was dreadful. Until he regains match sharpness I wouldn't put him anywhere near the first 11 especially as a lone striker as people are calling for. King played well .
Nice to see what the Dev squad are up to. Now I understand why Hooper and Odjidja aren't getting into the match day squads. Hooper was very disappointing. Jacob Murphy had a torrid time too. Ironically the player who did seem to have that bit of extra class and time on the ball - Bassong. Not many occasions you would have guessed he had no football for nearly six months. I really hope he has a go at getting involved again. On his day he is a premiership class rock.
