Yes yes, there's an f'n thread for this.... but seeing half this site seems to want to rock in a corner singing la la la with their hands over their ears rather than hear whats going on the and the other half wants to just blame rodgers and his signings I thought it'd be nice to just look at our latest performance in the cold light of day this morning.

Why was it disappointing; 2 reasons.

    1. We created very few scoring opportunities of real note.

    2. we started sitting back further and further from about 65/70 minutes and frankly got what we deserved.

    3. Everton were poor and there for a trouncing. (for tobes <ok>)

However there were a few signs that might just give some hope; for example.

    1. we actually won a few frees and that was where the goal came from, balotelli actually taking the ball at people. He also played a bit higher in the first part of the game and was up at the everton CBs.

    2. Lallana approaching fitness is a busy player who did actually try to run in behind. that did help. direct running inside creates space for others to play in. I'm not saying he's not lightweight, and is any good at taking corners but at least he looked like he knew where to go.

    3. In general we showed if we bothered out backsides we could play with a bit of intensity too.

So what do we do next:

    1. We need to take markovic out and mind the lad. He's a 20 mil investment who looks totally shell shocked and I am sorry but 4/5 times in the past 2 games he's passed a guilt edged chance to shoot. Indicates to my mind a lack of confidence the manager must work on.

    2. Get sturridge back in obviously

    3. Work on more intensity over 90 mins not 70, we must not fall back in defence like this but offer real threat not half hearted going through motions.

    4. keep working on actual penetration. getting beyond defences, pushing into that space forces teams deeper. we must expand on this.

I agree that for 75-80 minutes, we were the better of 2 fairly ordinary sides. The only thing going for us was that we ere at home and trying to win the game. After 80 minutes we got what we deserved by falling back into our own half.

In other threads many have touched upon the lack of movement. Our forwards and Ams all seem to want to start running AFTER they receive the ball.

I saw the green shoots of training ground efforts anyway. there was move bits and pieces on show that were different than previous games.

Perhaps it is merely as its a derby but I felt there were some moves that will pay off in time.

    #give it a month.

(any talk of titles and contesting is gone)

we are just hoping for cups and scraping 4th right now but we've gotta give a month to see this fixed on the training ground before losing it totally <ok> If we can see some runs ebing made and some systems v everton then if we see that develop great but I just hope it was not just cos everton are trash this year.

IMO west brom on sunday looked like they would beat LFC so that game is a good test... if LFc can beat team like west brom (everyones no hopers at the start) that look like they can threaten lfc's weaknesses and also not give up at anfield... well it'll be interesting.

Disappointing result but at least the performance was a lot better.

More movement up top needed, and sooner we get Allen and Sturridge back into the team - I think we'll restore the balance in our play.

Agree about the lack of movement - need Sturridge to improve us in that respect and Balotelli's hold up play 'should' compliment him.

i'd perfer to think no matter who it is rodgers might get them playing his way so if in months time balotelli is running in to score off sturridge passes great.

I'd rather not beleive our success is down to the style a player feels like playing. If rodgers can "improve" balotelli it'd me amazing.. I can't see anyone improving the nutter but ho hey. I did see better runs being made, more dangerous ones

Yeah I saw those runs as well - small improvements which is encouraging to see. As mentioned, once we get Sturridge back, it will free up space for the likes of Mario and Sterling to do more damage.
