I wouldn't boast about that, there'll be books about finishing second in the league next!

You scored one (admitedly class) goal from a dodgy free kick against the worst defence in the division and you disparage their football?

We were robbed, great goal or not. Barry should have got a straight red when he got the first yellow. Everton were outplayed. We couldn't convert our superiority into goals, which is something of a worry.

It was a vicious hack, Tobes. That was my immediate reaction and I stand by it.

How was the free kick on Balotelli more dodgy than the two offside decisions in your game against West Ham? All three were technically correct. baines wafted a leg out in mid-air for balotelli to either vault or fall over. He chose the latter. Are you saying RVP, Young, Jammyjism, Shrek et al wouldn't have done the same thing? As Tobes previously said, there was more of a case that when Balotelli retrieved the ball off Barry he went through the back of his foot trying to re-create his first half mugging of barry (that should also have led to a red card when Barry whipped him up).

Your point about our poor attacking and chance-making prowess against a poor Everton defence is well made though, and has been made several times by many posters on here including myself.

Go' way mate, it was a crap mis-timed tackle, nothing more. He wasn't over the top of the ball, never a red card.

Martinez got Wigan relegated playing decent football. Imagine what he can do with an Everton side playing crap football <yikes>

We should have won easily against the toffees. They were totally lack lustre and there for the taking. I have never seen Lukaku so poor. He was hardly a threat. Gerrard scored a very good goal but Howard invited him to shoot there but hardly covered himself in glory in only pushing the ball into his net <laugh>

The relative lack of clear cut chances and the finishing touch is worrying. Sorry to get back to Suarez but last season this would have been an easy win and we would probably have been 2nd just behind Chelsea. Rodgers needs to get his attacking mojo back and quick.

    true..

I did think lukaku worked hard but was pout in bad areas that didn't hurt us... just like balotelli was in previous games for us.

I agree on clear cut chances really the balotelli one was the most clear. but I did feel we just showed a few signs of trying to get behnd the,....

Rodgers mojo seems to have not been his tactics but the natrual instincts of suarez and sturridge. Whether this broken comment of his bears fruit and we see far more runs into the sapces behind back 4s i don't know.

I personally think we'll just see rodgers getting sturridge back out there and badontelly will do what he likes and only score in europe while sturridge runs in behind. it'll not be a trianing gorund fix but a palyer doing what he likes to do.

I am a bit sick of seeing sterling on the half way line though... he needs to be the one getting beyond the striker.. not being so deep he's not posing a threat.

rodgers will be a genius to me if he gets badontelly making the sort of dangerous runs we know scores goals.
