Was a bit dirty, not dirty in a nasty way, dirty in the sense that fouling was part of your game plan. we were keeping possession nicely. You tried to deal with that by breaking up our play with niggly fouls, 13 of your 15 fouls were committed by your back 4 and Ki.

I wasn't referring to all Swansea fans having ideas above their stations fella, just the dickheads we've had on since the game. Good post mate, reasoned debate always welcome here marra. <ok>

Every aspect was part of the game plan imo.

One of the Swansea players sat in the centre circle for ages, like a toddler in a tantrum, until the referee told him to get up and stop being so pathetic. They never kick the ball to an opponent when they have a corner, thrown in etc, not dirty just snide.

I honestly believe that, when it doesn't bring success, it eventually demoralises the players because they don't really enjoy doing it.

Garry Monk claimed Sunderland got involved in a turf war to stop Swansea City after blaming the Stadium of Light's long grass for this dreary goalless draw.

Swans boss Monk admitted his Swans were well below their best in the North East as they ended the blank with ten men for the second successive week when Angel Rangel saw red with nine minutes left.

And while he insisted he was pleased to still get something from the game despite frustrations at the display, he reckoned Sunderland's pitch gave the hosts a helping hand in putting the visitors off their game.

Asked why his team couldn't get into gear on Wearside, Monk said: “It's difficult to say exactly but you can't forget that Sunderland are a good team with a good manager backed by a big fan base.

“But the pitch was difficult and it seemed it had been left a little bit long and soft in places so our touches and passing wasn't quite as crisp as it can be."

“But it's a number of things and the important thing was the team stuck at it, showed very good character. We lost our last two in the league so it was important to make sure we came away with a point.”

Sunderland boss Gus Poyet denied any knowledge of the pitch problems although he did admit his team wanted to stop Swansea's passing game in a bid for a first Black Cats' victory of the season.

Yet despite struggling to create any chances of note, Monk insisted the point was deserved having been denied their rewards for a rearguard performance against Southampton a week ago.

“We weren't at our best and we didn't create many chances so when that happens the next best thing is to make sure you defend well, keep the clean sheet and not lose," he added.

“It meant it was a scrappy game but we're not always going to be at our best as we have been do far.

“You can't do it every week and when you can't, you make sure you do the basics well which we did. We got the point which is justice for last week when we played so well and didn't get our rewards.”

Monk did not hit out at Rangel for his red that came one week after Wilfried Bony's dismissal against Southampton, but didn't really complain at Chris Foy's decision.

He said: “The first yellow was for throwing the ball away so fine, the second one was fifty-fifty which sometimes you won't get booked for.

“You always run the risk and especially away from home with the crowd getting on the referee's back at every decision and putting pressure on them which some refs deal with and some don't.

“The problem for me is that we seemed to be getting punished for every bit of contact when other teams are not so we'll have to look at it.”

Monk added Swansea “possibly” could have had a penalty for Santiago Vergini's 51st minute challenge on Wayne Routledge, but added: “We didn't create enough to win the game. It wasn't our intention but neither team created anything."

"It was only when we went down to ten men they threw things at us and had a couple of headers but it was pretty much a nothing game.”

    ------------------------------------------------------------

Opinion of Monk has well and truly gone down after some of these quotes

Never had much of an opinion of him - the grass is too long? Oh FFS! Funny how a team which passes the ball (Swansea) complain about the grass being too long at the stadium of a team which plays passing football? Prick!

If he wants a pen for the Routledge one then look at the removal of our forwards shirts twice in the game and compare them to the penalty given against us on the opening day!

    This bloke is a pleb
