Lazar Markovic

Discussion in 'Liverpool' started by danilo., Jan 16, 2012.

  1. Fair enough, just find it annoying that people have to find a scape goat whether we win, lose or draw no matter what the performance.

Why should Markovic be any different from the usual gang of suspects (Gerrard, Johnson, Skrtel) who are generally cited as the reason that we have lost/ not won games?

Today I thought he started poorly and the slipped into anonymity. I accept the fact that he is still settling but he's shown me nothing to justify his fee so far.

Someone needs to sit down with him and tell him to relax and play how he was for Benfica, but also that he needs to work hard even when playing ****. Sometimes just being a body in the way can help.

Personally I wouldn't be starting with him, or wouldn't have been, till December and certainly not in a game like today. He needs to settle and learn how the team plays whilst having a 10-20min impact on games at the end.

I'll give him more time before writing him off, we've barely started the season. (Mingolet on the other hand is a different story)

  4. Every player should work hard whether playing **** or not. Fairly comprehensive that I think that way considering the two quotes I have in my signature.

  5. Never said he should be treated differently but the "waste of money" and "he will never make a decent player" type comments are uncalled for too. Yes, he's been poor, very poor in fact, but its also only eight games into a season in which he's only featured in five and not once played ninety minutes! He's come from a different (and lesser) league. How many players have we seen join the PL and struggle at first only to settle and become a decent player? I'm not saying he will but every player deserves a chance. If people want to moan about anyone then moan about the guy that picks him, that's where the buck stops!!!

I was reliably informed on this board that this guy is awesome. Can't see it myself. He's better than Balotelli though.

Calm Down! I agree with you. I'm not writing him off yet. I didn't know anything about him before he arrived, so I can only go on what I've seen - which is not very impressive!

You are right when you say that the buck stops with BR but even he needs indications from the player that he is trying!

Calmed down a bit now (and watched the full game again) so I'll try and be more dispassionate. But I'll say again, I have never slagged off or booed a Liverpool player at the game, and I was a season ticket holder when Paul Stewart, Izvan Kozma, Nicky Tanner and Sean Dundee played for us.

So, back to Markovic. I hope to be proved wrong, but, apart from those 10 minutes against City before Johnson went off and we went down to 10 men, I haven't seen pace or control, or even positional awareness. Fair enough, the last one comes froms playing into our style and expectations (same problems with Balotelli). Just can't see a place for him, even in the LC, if the likes of Allen, Coutinho and Suso are fit. And, I can't see at all why we've bought him and let Ibe go out on loan.

Hope he gets another chance and is ready for it this time.

Don't even know what our style is anymore, it's def not the free flowing attacking stuff we had going on last season, just sort of get to the edge of the other lot's box and hit and hope

"20 mill for this lad is a pisstake"

Come back to me when we are further into the season. Sure, everyone can see he hasnt played well but you cant say he's a failure yet. Unless you have you blue tinted bitter glasses on that is

I didn't say he was a failure, I simply said that £20m is a pisstake, as he's shown nothing at all to suggest he's a £20m player.

He may make me eat those words, but from what I've seen of him, he looks like a nothing player.

He hasn't even played a full game yet has he? I think he will come good, he's 20 years old adapting to a new league but .... haters gonna hate!

Have you cut other teams' signings as much slack? Unlikely.

Im pleased with lallana, Maquillo and Moreno so far

I think Balotelli will improve when Sturridge is back. Lambert not done much. Not seen anything of Can obviously but think he will be good
