Who is behind us doesnt say how we are playing , they are playing worse .Besides , its my nature to worry . Points are drying up and we better get them next 3 or we could get ugly in panic when our run at the big boys begins.

60% happy with that. But a points better than nothing, few dodgy performances Taylor etc against a dirty team, happy when Montero got on but the team need a win now to boost em .

We are not going to play brilliant every game, I cant understand how some fans cant grasp that. Our worst performance of the season and we still come away with a point so you have to be happy with that....

I don't think we have a block of 8 tough fixtures like we did last year.

That was a really hard earned point against a pretty ugly team in Sunderland. Don't enjoy the Swans playing them generally over the last few seasons, I say 'generally' as last season we were well on top with them. They always seem to prove it diffucult for us to get our flowing game going, but the boys' dug deep & a point it is. Stems the run of defeats too!! We did appear to have an option when Bony came on, but creating any real clear-cut chances was diffucult. Bit dissapointed in Siggy, didn't think he had his best game, but can't fault the whole team, once again, for sheer endeavour. Keep that attitude alone & we'll have a great season.
Refs, well why do we always get them, after last week I thought we could have a week off, but along comes Foy, following John 'Toss' last week, another red too!! Thought Rangel's second yellow was very harsh, the way I saw it, he just couldn't get out of the way & the Mackem 2hat played for it, same as Bony's 1st last week was harsh too!! So, dust ourselves down & onwards to their fierce rivals next Saturday, can't wait...

Re Bony, I was just wondering why he was dropped to the bench. Don't think it was to 'punish' him for the two yellows at all, but may well have been a lack of form. Gomis covers more ground I suppose and we were playing a high line and pressing them early doors so that may have been it, I don't know. Gomis wasn't great but he worked hard. His touch was very poor but I remember Bony being exactly the same when he first arrived. Imo Bony should have come on half time.

I've had some time to reflect on the game and watched the MOTD highlights just now. Rangel's sending off was harsh, Sunderland were sly and dirty but should have won the game and yes, we were fortunate. If they had just one on-form striker we'd have lost by two or three.

That said, happy wih a point if not the performance and we're still 5th. Can't complain about that.

'Gomis covers more ground' - not sure about that as Bony is usually our best defender at corners and comes back looking for the ball, both aspect of play Gomis is adapting to.
I also think if we'd had one on form striker we'd have been ahead at half time and cruising.

Agree with the rest though.

It seems to me Gomis is a little more active in pressing in the opposition's half but I agree that Bony is a very good defender.

This made me laugh - from the Guardian ....

What should not be doubted is that, long-term, he (Poyet) intends to transform his side into a possession-monopolising, slick-passing unit reminiscent of Swansea on the many good days that Monk’s team enjoy."

Roof has a point here.... we may be 5th etc, but we have only really performed well in 1 match in the league - the match against West Brom. I don't think we've been great in any other match.

Well I'd rather play average and pick up points than play well and lose atm. How many times have we said 'we played really well and got nothing' over the past 3 years?
What these performances tell me is, if we play well we win (excluding the top 5-6)

Played well against S/hampton 1st half ,very well v Everton, well v Chelsea although not surprised at the result & well v Utd and deserved winners .Grinding out results even a draw away is a good result ,we're going to see more clubs trying to prevent us playing than playing themselves which is a compliment in it's self

IMO Poyet watched the Southampton game carefully last week and told his team to replicate their tactics, the closing us down high up the field, the close marking, the diving anywhere in our half to gain free kicks, and fouling their way to gain the points. It worked a treat except that they were blunt up front and couldn't score from 11 corners and countless free kicks. The inept ref gave them every decision, just like the other dull one last week, and played to the big home crowd by sending off Rangel. At 51,Foy is to old to referee,he missed a lot of their fouls because he couldn't keep up with the ball, but ironically interpreted every 50/50 challenge as a foul against us.Amazing that we shared the points in the end with 11 and the ref against 10 of ours.

Wasn't home for game, anyone have any links to game highlights or even re-run of match??

Still, if we played as poorly as some are saying then an away point is a great result. What happened re Rangel? heard the red was harsh.

Why are we getting so many bookings/ sendings off. It seems whenever one of our players goes near the opposition we receive a booking. Yet, Dyer/Routledge and montero are kicked from pillar to post and receive no protection whatsoever. i have no arguements with Bony's red, but why no red for fonte, are we to honest?

Maybe it is time we start to get in the refs ear a little more, it seems to work for some, then again our players would probably be booked for it.

I try to cut refs a lot of slack because they are generally honest and try their best. I cringe when I see slow-mo replay after super-slow-mo replay on TV just for the pundits to have a go at refs. It really isn't easy without those replays. The game is played at high speed and they get one shot at it.

But I have to say there is a modern phenomenon of certain refs who love the limelight. They almost invariably go with the home crowd and love to be popular with home teams. Dean is one of the worst and Foy is another. The age of the celebrity ref is with us folks, and they don't become celebrities by being invisible.
