I think the decision to drop Remy at the last minute, when you were obviously given the green light for Bellotelli will prove to be a bad call. Remy would have suited your style far more than the lazy, preening prick that is mad Mario
Failed a medical though, so what can you do. Chelsea could take the risk on a 3rd choice striker and not worry if something happens to him. We couldn't unfortunately.
He works hard to get the ball back, but he does **** all when we have it and chooses to walk around, asking for the ball to feet so he can turn and pop a 40yard shot towards goal. I would love Welbeck over him, he runs the channels and makes space as well as working hard defensively.
It' a shame short term we don't have Origi a he'd offer that pace and movement upfront in Sturridge's absence. Long term, a year of playing 1st team football is more important though and hopefully next year can come a more rounded player.
Almost begrudge saying this because I think Tobes will jump on it but Lukaku or Benteke would have been better options too.
Hopefully we'll still be in the CL when he returns... I know he's young and wouldn't be first choice here, but he is very similar to play style to Sturridge imo and would have been ideal to have here. Shame. Big hopes for him next season though.
Remy's a bit of a shady character anyway, as is his agent. 'Failed medical' aside, he was given permission to talk to Newcastle, had a meeting arranged to talk terms and didn't turn up, couple of days later he signs for QPR .....
Both have scored one goal each, but Welbeck is a better all round player and as mentioned has an excellent work ethic. Also we have the option to always move him out wide. Balotelli is not as flexible.
I was watching a documentary about Bob Paisely the other day, and he said that the thing the Liverpool fans apprenticed most about his team was the fact they were full of players who worked their socks off. I just do not think a player like Balotelli will ever be a hit at Liverpool. As mentioned above, his movement is so poor for a striker, hence his average goal scoring record. Often he prefers to attempt the spectaclur goal rather than busting his nut to run and get into a posistion to score a simple tap in.
I'd love to jump forward to,say, next March and have a look at this thread again. Balo will find his feet and score goals,Welbecks made a good move to a good team. Some on here should know better than to jump on players backs when the seasons barely begun
I'm not jumping on his back because of a few games early into the season. I'm on his back because I've not rated him since his City days. I shall still cheer and support him when he plays, but I can voice my disappointment and frustrations about him all I please on an internet forum. No doubt others have their own reasons though. And if Mario happens to somehow read these forums, good. Maybe he'll realise what he needs to do to get the fans on side. 1/50 worldies isn't the way to do it.
I'm not jumping on the players back, I question the signing and how he fits. So far, its not worked and I honestly don't see how it can either. Mario is what he is, he hasn't disappointed me since he joined, he's done more than I expected already.
