Are you COL's south coast cousin Ian? The journeyman thing is correct regarding Ferdinand. He's dropped more clangers now in his few games than Richard Dunne did since his legs stopped working. And that's saying something because the only place Dunne is fit for now is the knackers yard. Ferdinand needs to be dropped. He's finished. He's a busted flush. My bro-in-law who's a United fan told me two years ago that he was gone. Yet here he is two years later in a Rangers shirt having 'mare after 'mare and costing us valuable points in the process. Sadly Redknapp will keep playing him even if one of his legs falls off
The coverage from MOTD was awful and missed a lot, to answer some questions and points raised. Green - will be disappointed with the first goal but ff you want to play the blame game i'd put it down to Philips not tracking the player. Green I thought played quite well and saved us a few times (they didn't even show him coming out of the box in the first 5 mins) Isla - played a lot better, though did make a couple of silly mistakes. Henry - did his job again especially when the game opened up. Philips- I'm guessing Philips was played as he is faster the JNR, we were sitting back, they were pushing up so we need someone to exploit the space behind however no hope as the Full backs pushed up not letting either Philips or Vargas to get behind, Charlie just not a threat like this. For me though Hoilett should start. The first half they pushed up , playing a high line and we sat back. Made for not a great half, pretty much compacted the pitch by a 3rd no space which harmed them as much as us, but they had the majority of chances or what there were of them. Second half started the same until they scored, for me this was the catalyst not JNR coming on to change the game for us, though he played well when he came on. Their defense stepped back creating space in midfield and from that moment onward we looked good, Fer and Nico had a little more time on the ball and add in JNR, we looked dangerous. A very entertaining second half, topped off with 2 great goals. Judging purely on the second half we were unlucky not to come away with something but on balanced they probably deserved it. I won't pick out individuals but an encouraging performance, need to stop giving opponents too much respect.
Cheers Ian. There are many on here and around Loftus Road who seem totally oblivious to Hoilett's obvious qualities.
I'm sorry mate, but there's no way on God's green earth that Phillips is faster than Hoilett!! Over the first 3-10 yards Hoilett would absolutely destroy him. Phillips may catch him after around 30 yards or so, but how often is that important? Phillips is like a sloth over the first few yards. You're also right that Phillips was to blame for not tracking back for the first goal............something that Hoilett does better as well.
Loads of comment on here from people saying they couldn't see the game. The whole 90mins is available on http://www.footballorgin.com/2014/09/premier-league-2014-2015-southampton-v_27.html - Great site, posts almost every game, sometimes minutes after it's finished, sometimes a day or two later. Worth a look (and maybe a donation if you use it much). As a Saints fan, I have to agree with As soon as you were behind you started causing trouble; hopefully Harry will learn from that. Everyone in the crowd around me knew you were going to equalise once you started trying to score. Vin
Harry was renowned for his attacking football with Spurs but we've yet to see any of it in almost two years with us, just can't fathom him out...
Sometimes I just feel he's thinking, "My best days are behind me, managing an important club. QPR are rather insignificant with a barely adequate team to take on the might of ManU and Spurs, but the owners are nice people so I'll do what I can for them. Batton down the hatches when we play away so that the loss isn't too embarrassing..." Let's show the big clubs disrespect, Harry. Let's really have a go at them
4-0 FT - after three goalless draws, nice to see Burnley working on their GD - now we just need a couple of patsies to fill the other two relegation spots.
Ball over the top doesn't mean a 3-10 yard sprint, means a 10-30 yards. I would agree that JNR is faster with the ball at his feet but straight speed, i don't think so but at the end of the day I'm only guessing what Harry was thinking.
Think this whole Phillips versus Hoilett chat is silly because they play on opposite sides of the pitch- Hoiletts best position is left wing when he cuts in field and runs at the goal. This doesn't work if he was playing right wing instead of Phillips If Hoiletts brain was as fast as his feet he would be a good player
We could debate this forever mate. A ball over the top doesn't work very often at this level. Anyway, let's agree to differ.
He was out of position COL yet did very well. He's a good player but he's got to go left IMO. Or through the middle
