Just got back... Great atmos. Dour football just it's been for months now. Watching us live really does let you realise how slow our football is. I mean you can see it on TV but in a stadium holy ****... Can barely remember anyone sprinting with the ball or making a sprint run waiting to receive it. Painful. Walcott will make no difference. We have pacy players already and they barely use their pace. It's all about the tactics. And they're hopeless.
In what sense did you deserve to win? Don't get me wrong, we played pretty cynically and sat back to hit on the counter but you didn't create much against us. Mertesacker had a great chance, Welbeck had a half chance when Kaboul blocked and you scored from your other chance. The rest was a few pot shots from distance. At the other end Chadli missed a good chance, scored a good chance and Adebayor made a right mess of a golden chance 7 yards out. Last season you did the same to us after taking the lead, just sitting back. In our 2 league games you finished with 6 defenders on the pitch and we dominated our home game in terms of attempts, possession and whatever else you want to claim Arsenal did better today. Did you think we deserved to beat you then? Wenger got it wrong today, he had you set up cautiously leaving your best attacker on the bench, pushing Ozil out wide, filling your midfield with defensive contribution in mind. He must've thought Pochettino was going to set us up to attack all game but he moved away from that and made Wenger's line up look totally unnecessary.
I thought Kaboul had a very good game for you today and cut out a host of crosses as well and intercepting 2-3 which would have been clear cut chances for us. We didn't play well, but we could have scored another 1-2 if it wasn't for Kaboul today.
He did do very well. It's a defender's job to stop chances, is having defenders that defend well some kind of lucky advantage that meant you guys didn't get what you deserved? I seem to remember Chadli having a shot blocked on the line by a defender against you guys at WHL last season, that was Chadli's fault for not finishing better and the defender's credit for getting on the line to stop the goal and I don't think that's lucky. Today wasn't like some games where you just wonder how the ball isn't going in after tonnes of chances, or one where the referee made big blunders to cost a team. It was just an even game with 2 teams set up in different styles and an even spread of real chances with no moment of brilliance to seperate the sides(which is what it would've taken).
Kaboul was his usual world class level. If only we didnt have to struggle along with Kos , Mertz , Chambers.... we might not have conceded that sh1t easy stupid goal witha world class defender like Kaboul on the books. fuck me ...if players like kaboul can keep our attack from getting thru we are truly screwed.
