I'm not grumbling. A point is great away from home, but I'm realistic enough to recognise we were fortunate today. Thought realism was your thing.
Im not saying you were grumbling dragon, I'm agreeing with you but i dont think we were fortunate i think we worked hard for a point in the end and did not deserve to lose....
Ki and Borini were the difference for them last season, but I see them running out of steam and confidence pretty soon, and as for their Not606 board, well what a bunch of inbred muppets!..............
We did have to work hard in the end, all Sunderland gave even when we were down to ten men was not enough, the Sky commentator said that Sunderland were not good enough to breach Swansea defence even when down to 10 men!...............
Yep I get that Dai. We worked hard - agreed. But how Fletcher and Wickham both conspired to miss simple goals is beyond me, even though I'm glad they did. We should have lost today no doubt and like I said the stats prove that. If I have any beef at all it's why Monk didn't start Bony. The Sunderland players must have been relieved to see him on the bench. Gomis was poor today but he wasn't alone. Bony came on far too late imo but did make a difference when he came on. If someone can give some insight into why Bony didn't start then go for it because I've no idea why. Glad of the point but it could easily have been more for us imo. Sunderland were cack. You're right about their fans too Phill.
A clean sheet. An away point. I don't care if they missed 20 sitters - even Champions League sides need luck. We shower ourselves down after playing a dirty club and move on to their more illustrious neighbours next week
Well I agree there - they were dirty and I'm glad we've got a point. Any theories anyone on why Bony was dropped to the bench? Thought that was a mistake at the start and I still believe that unless there was a good reason for it.
A kick up the backside for his red card last week maybe? Plus Gomis had to have an opportunity to show what he could do.
I wanted him dropped to the bench to be honest dragon as he has been poor of late, A bit of time as a sub wont do him no harm as we saw when he came on. I was very surprised monk never started with him though but i think it was the right choice. I should imagine he will start next game and i hope he has gained his form back to what we know he has...
Just got back from the game (no didn't fly just at the in laws in Birmingham) it wasn't a physical gdmf but very niggly. Did get fed up with us conceding silly free kicks, why we just can't stand the man up. Fab was fab again, I don't get as concerned now at corners with him in goal. Gomis didn't offer much up front, needs to work on his touch. Still not convinced on Taylor at times he was alongside Ash and left hid man have all the space he wanted, Midfield started well then went missing, not Gylfies best game Ki flitted in and out of the game and Jon Jo was steady but gave a silly ball away in the first half that could have punished us. Frustrated with our wingers not attacking the space snd defenders, they were very padestrian at times. Now when Montero came on his when and attacked him from the off!! Bony caused them problems when he came on, but why the hell he thought it was clever to do step overs just out side our 18 yard box I'd beyond me, especially when we only had 10 men. Rangel, well a stupid sending off and has only himself to blame, why the hell he decided to throw the ball away, do that and you expect a booking. Second card needless tackle when all he needed to do was stand his man. Still not pretty, not flowing football but a battling point in the end. Oh and how did Fletcher missed that header at the death
Has to be his red card antics, I'm currently trying too smooth things over on the Sunderland board after Dragonborn upset our black cats, but I'm about to give up, it's not working!.........
I thought Monk said somewhere Bony hadn't had a proper break and recuperation after the World Cup! Could be, he's a big lad but there again he started slow last season. Punishment for the two yellows? A very dangerous game if true especially as both were soft (I thought the first reasonable at the time but seeing it from a different angle shows the Soton player jumped into the collision then rolled over a bit - now why exactly he got away with it when Chico was pilloried I can only guess.) I hope he just needed a break. Rangel is getting a pasting from some but again I'd defend him. Throwing the ball away was silly but I can understand his frustration with the Sunderland tactics and the ref going along with them. For the second, what was he supposed to do when a player runs into him? Sunderland worked very hard (as did Southampton) to get players booked and sent off. The Premier League chiefs really need to take a serious look at this. Foy had a shocker of a game today. Not sure who it was but the player going in on Fernandez went for his ankle - as bad a challenge as you are likely to see. Then in the second half I think it was Buckley who managed to foul Taylor in line with the penalty area when the ball was being passed over the half way line. Notably, both linos waited for Foy to make the decisions before they flagged. We seemed to generally lack patience and guile. Away from home we could have kept possession for half the game in our own half to frustrate the home team who had 11 behind the ball when we attacked and made them come out of their bus parking defence. Instead we resorted to long balls and impatience. Another game where our midfield lost shape and I would question their fitness; Ki, Siggy and Jono all looked drained early in the second half. Great game from Fab. In the circumstances a point won.
I know I'll get hammered but I think the only time we've looked impressive throughout a game was against Everton.
There was no "Swansea Way " today bob .just a lucky point .we need wins from the next 3 games or ill be beyond worried
