YV, my point is Pochettino never set us up to soak up pressure and hit on the counter because he believed that was the best way to create chances. That was just how the game panned out because we couldn't keep the ball in midfield. Unless there is anything to suggest Pochettino had been working on this game plan all week, because he knew we couldn't play the pressing game? But I would find that hard to believe.
The evidence is in how we played, our best passer was out on the left and we poured forward at every opportunity. If that was just a happy accident I need Pochettino to pick my lottery numbers because his luck is clearly in. I'll leave you to have your moan now, I'm going to celebrate an important point well earned.
He was a constant outlet for us on the counter, which was important, there were some poor passes he made though. Not his best game but Ade, for me, was our worst player.
Of course we're going to pour forward at every opportunity if the goons are leaving space to exploit but again that's just how the game panned out because we couldn't keep the ball. We where trying to keep the ball but failed, that shows Pochettinos plan failed and much like AVB who had us trying to play a high pressing game, if you remember most of our goals came from the counter attack because his game plan wasn't working.
Ade can't play for a manager like Pochettino or AVB, just doesn't happen and we have to accept now he is never going to be that player that performed to the level he did under Redknapp and Sherwood. He may have the odd game when he scores but he just cant play well on a consistent basis unless there is drama in his life.
he plays when he's looking to get a contract, or intermittently when he's wound up, the rest of the time he looks like he's just going through the motions.
On the way home from the game, can anyone tell me what that useless lump of **** Adebayor actually did today? He seemed lazy, uninterested and was **** today. He was that bad that a lot of spurs around us were booing him. Mason and the back 4 all put in a good shift today, impressed with them all.
Boss that sounds like you have a fixed idea on Poch and will fit the game to suit your argument. I don't think we would have seen the quick countering if the manager had not planned it, otherwise you have to ask why we have not seen it before for yonks.
I don't think he was dreadful, but I have seen nothing so far to suggest he is a game changer. I think it's still early days for him (writing off last season) but glimpses of some special ball control suggests he may surprise and delight us as the season progresses.
We showed determination and a back bone today...cant see how anything negative can be said about poch and his tactics. Very good point...our passing could have been crisper and we could have closed down better but that will come. No one expected us to come away with a well deserved point ... that made up for poor performance last week. Coys
Very surprised the ref did not contribute to a Spurs loss at the end. 3 yrs ago and the plank would have had VDV taking an early bath, Twice.
I'd start Soldado and Kane against Besiktas and if Soldado looks sharper than he has so far then I'd give him the nod for the Southampton game, if not then Kane should start. Ade was total ****. It's alright running the channels in games like these, and it's alright being a bit lazy if you're going to turn up at the right moments but Ade was a special level of crap today, worst player on the pitch by a long, long way.
I honestly thought that,on form,we would lose 3-0.Nice surprise! I did see a much needed midfielder scoring a brilliant goal for his team today.I wonder if we could put in a bid for him?Seems quite good.I think his name is Modric, or something like that.........
