Rovers travelling up today and staying overnight! At the start of the season Rovers that they need to make some cut backs and overnight stays on away games will be one thing they need to cut as pretty expensive covering 16 players players or so and coaching staff etc. Rovers got stuck in traffic on the way to Altrincham and that effected the preparations before kick off. We lost. DC or Rovers by the way never used this as an excuse though. Same thing happened at Braintree and again we lost. However for the last away game at Lincoln we stayed overnight and performed much better and won the game. As a result this has made the powers at be re-think about the overnight stays and they have given Rovers again the go ahead to stay overnight tonight in hope that this helps the team tomorrow like Lincoln. http://www.bristolpost.co.uk/Bristo...t-stay-boost/story-23004978-detail/story.html
Southport are one of those odd sides whose results I've always looked out for, as I remember, as a boy, when they were the last side to fail to be re-elected to the league, being replaced by Wigan in 1978. The same applies to Workington Town, who failed a year earlier, to the benefit of Wimbledon. Just as a matter of curiosity I looked up the last time Southport and Bristol Rovers were in the same division. It was 1973-74 in the Third Division [League One]. Both matches ended in home wins; 3-1 to Rovers on 13/11/73 and 1-0 to Southport on 5/4/74. Rovers went on to be promoted while Southport were relegated.
Starting 11: Mildenhall, Lockyer, Trotman, Parkes, Brown, Gosling, Mansell, Sinclair, Martin, Taylor & Cunnington Subs: Puddy, McChrystal, Clarke, Harrison & White Trotman returns to the starting 11 pushing Lockyer out to right back meaning Leadbitter drops out of the starting 11 & doesnt make the bench.
5 subs! if we had 7 like the football league then he would be on the bench for sure. i think leadbitter should be starting. i would rather see him at RB than lockyer to be honest.
gosling shoots outside the box in top corner into roof of the net. 1st shot of the game for either side!
