I can't be arsed to watch the interview, but Harry is clueless imo, evidenced by the fact that he specifically recruited with a mind to playing 3-5-2 this season and abandoned the system after a game and a half. We now have squad that is not equipped to play any other formation, and he whines about that being the case. I believe that we will most likely be relegated under Redknapp. The most worrying thing, though, is that TF seems to still be starstruck by Redknapp and has supposedly offered him a new contract

If we're lucky we pay Teflon Tone back for his reckless gambling, with some vague hope of playing at an unconfirmed music venue we won't own in the dim and distant. And we like him? God he's good. You weren't there at numerous games away from home where my team were humiliating and played with a total lack of imagination. That is the reason why we couldn't stand the guy. From a so-called dream start where we scored about 8 goals in total in the first ten games while conceding only 1, we almost threw it away, while HR moaned and whined about bad luck of losing your only fit striker for three months and that we were short of options up front. Whose bloody fault was that? Great they dug in at home against Wigan and got their just rewards but if you think that the play off final against Derby was anything other than a fluky result you really are deluded. I can see that playing for penalties may be wise in certain circumstances but only if you are confident that your defence can keep them at bay for 40 minutes and then 30 minutes extra time. But not if you are relying on your goalie to play the game of his life. If Rob Green had played an average game we would have lost that comfortably. They had more than enough clear-cut chances in the second half. It's great to remember the occasion and I too am fond of remembering it in rose-tints but I see no reason to shower Redknapp with adulation for what was a match in which we had one shot on target all game. Incidentally, I also agree with you that one fluky shot by Bobby Zamora is not reason enough why he should have been given a new contract.
Again it looks like its tactics that are letting us down. It was only when we went a goal behind that we started attacking them and creating chances. Redknapp doesn't encourage his team to go forward, at least not away from home, so we just sit and wait to let one in - which inevitably happens in this league. If the players were let off the leash and told to have a real go from the off we might actually take the lead in games and, heaven forbid, win one! Maybe its just taking time and its all going to come together soon but it had better had, very bloody soon. Still can't see what exactly Hoddle has brought to the table yet. Can anyone enlighten me?

Was just reading Harry's post match comments again and that bit is revealing. He obviously thinks if we're more attack-minded then we'll ship goals at the other end. He said it after the Hull game too, that they only started creating chances when we was chasing the game.
And there you have it Swords. The difference between Harry at tottenham & Every other club he has managed inthe Premier. He knew that Tottenham could score goals while he has little faith in our abiity to get more than one (I grant that he has grounds!). WEhat he can't seem to grasp though, is that we not not avoid concedeing if we are being attacked. After all, their goals came while we were sat back & happy with a point.
So what precisely does that reveal to you? We push players forward and the other team will be more dangerous on the counter attack. Really? Who would ever have guessed that? Let me take you and Harold into a secret world - one where forwards try to get into position to attack and midfielders can both defend and attack. Why on earth would we be exposed to the counterattack if we kept our defensive discipline. in theory there are six people who could be in the box or attacking it. Have a look next time and you'll only ever see one. So when we lose the ball. give it away or simply get tackled there should be at least 4 players who should know what to do to prevent the other team getting a shot in. If one of those who has managed to get into a good shooting position misses, there should be enough time for our versatile good lads to get back. I'm amazed that the old boy hasn't worked that out yet.

And the second lesson is one that most of us learned when we first started to kick a football. You won't get anywhere if you don't want to take a shot. The best feeling you ever got playing football as a child was scoring a goal. When did it become so corrupted that the idea that you play a whole 90 minutes with the sole aim of not conceding became fashionable to a so-called attack minded manager? So he doesn't fancy our chances of scoring. What was the transfer window for? It's his team - he put it together and spent a lot of Tony's money doing so. Yet for the second year running he has left us with one good striker and a few spare parts that can be glued together each match for the 20 minutes at the end when we're chasing a goal. I don't want my manager moaning how we were unlucky and even more moaning how we're a bit short up front. I want him to do something about it.
Yorkie I know what you're talking about. What I'm wondering is, is the grass greener? For five years Giovanni Trappatoni had Irish soccer fans cursing and swearing at him for refusing to allow the players (of a similar caliber to QPR's) attack and use whatever skill they had. He resolutely prohibited them do anything other than play for a 0-0 away and hopefully a 1-0 at home, regardless of the opposition. He clearly didn't think they were capable of doing anything other than stopping better teams from beating them. By the end of his reign he was just short of being lynched by the supporters. However he took over a complete shambles, organised the side and led them to within a Thierry Henry handball of the World Cup and into the following European Championships. It was desperately ugly but had he played expansive, would it have turned out any better? I don't know. But sometimes us fans get it wrong too. I'm tired of Droopy's excuses. I'm tired of him playing players not on form but on reputation (Henry won't get a look in next week). I'm tired of his players seemingly not knowing what they're doing and discouraged from having any attacking ambition. But maybe we're just a game or two from it all coming together and Redknapp turning out to be a wise auld hand after all?
