Do you're homework lad. St Etienne were THE top team in France at the time Monchengladbach had half the the reigning world champions in their team and were the best team in Germany in that era As for the rest, they were the best in their respective countries.
He should take a look at their 68 win. Apart from Real Madrid in the semis they played nobody special.
Interesting thread I think a lot of what you said is true. We do have major problems with left back, even centre back, wingers and a back up for the strikers and a replacement for Gerrard. We do need more players in desperately, hence why the delay in signing is driving everyone mad. If City get Clichy I will go mad. He is exatly the signing we need. Not too expensive, fills the whole, job done. Yet as usual our transfer dealings are piss poor. Despite all this, thinking negatively never gets anyone anywhere. We now have Suarez and Carroll, which coupled with a couple of wingers and Gerrard will be formidable. We have young players stepping up to the mark, and owners with money. We have to look forward and stop crying about 'doses of reality'. We know where we are at, lets just make the best of what we can and continualy improve.
B4F. None of us are expecting a ''short-term fix'',we know its a work in progress, thats why I said all along that Kenny will make Liverpool champions within 3 years.
I didnt say anyone expected an immediate change, hence me saying all I am looking for is continious improvement. In three years we should be in a much better place. Shame Gerrard won't be though. The last few years have been a waste realy. If only these guys took over originally.
Lets face it matey, ye should have beaten chalke 10 0 in the semis None of the above were as bad as schalke
Again Schalke far worse than any of those If it was so easy, why are UNited not there? Nice ot see you try to devalue retaining it somethin ye've not done? no didn't thnk so, your teble was the only real one too apparently? OhhhhhMercy! Mancs love to try destroy these threads, they can't stand a decent Liverpool thread
"political sectarian" explain? You either dont know that NI is not a country or you're a bigot that took what i said as an insult to your bretheren. Ulster is a province of Ireland yes/no? Ulster consists of 9 counties 6 of which are under foreign rule yes/no? Political, did i mention the DUP,UUP,SF etc yes/no? Sectarian, did i insult nationalists or loyalists yes/no? dave, take a chill pill lad....please.
Sorry KPM but I can't - nay won't chill on the point that I made. To me it is VITAL that Liverpool Football Club remains a unifying entity. Yes, I am Protestant and I went to school at St. Margaret's C of E Boys High School - Anfield (laterly Aigburth). I played football for my school and yes i have heared priests running the touchline shouting "kick the Protestant bastard" (we also had a point system which gave 10 points if you could lift the winger off the pitch and knock over the priest at the same time!). As well as playing some good football (the team I was in won both the Echo Cup and the Martinadale Cup - the year follwing did the same - not bad for a school of only 500 boys) and we did kick the **** out of each other. BUT and this is very important on saturday afternoon you found us ALL on the Kop singing our hearts out and hugging when Liverpool scored. It's that vital unity which differentiates us from Rangers and Celtic. IT MUST BE PRESERVED
You're religion is your own affair dave, strangely enough i never mentioned religion in either of my comments. You heard priests saying "kick the protestant bastard",I've heard and saw worse on London Rd from the opposite side of the coin mate but thats life. By the way i use to go to the games with the lads from the Breck many moons ago and most of them went to Venice St school and were in the lodge, but they never brought religion into supporting LFC or never held any grudges against the Catholic lads in the crew. By the way i hope it rains cats and dogs in 11 days time. If you wont take a chill pill at least lighten up mate.
OK OK OK - I've taken the pill. My Best man is catholic and it always made me laugh when we sang what is now the chorus of Poor Tommy Scouser and belowed No Surrender when the match wasn't going our way. I totally and utterly agree that religion has NOTHING to do with supporting LFC and may it ALWAYS be so
Sound dave. The chorus of poor scouser tommy is the tune to the sash, but we got even with the fields of anfield rd. As you said LFC is about unity.
I went to De La Salle- a catholic school, yet somehow all of that sectarian business never got to me. I couldn't see the point of hating people because of their religion any more than I understand true hatred (as opposed to rivalry) amongst football fans. But then I am a saint
