Valid points about the young driver test. About Narain keeping his drive for india, it's not political, it's sponsorship. Will HRT be sponsored by red bull now though?
Sponsorship is political, especially in this instance. That's what I was getting at! Sorry if I chose the wrong word. There is a genuine wider political agenda tied in with this sponsorship: bear in mind who is the ultimate sponsor for the Indian Grand Prix in the first place; the Indian government! The thing is that we agree on the reason for Kart's reappearance in India.
Are lotus going to let karun chandhok race for india, seeing as it's his dad who's behind the indian gp (i think, i read somewhere he's the circuit boss)
Well this is something i didnt expect to see, but if it helps Ricciardo to get a feel for F1 racing and the tyres, G force etc, then he could come back next year a better driver.
HRT really do not add anything to F1, at least with Virgin they provide you with a few chuckles when the commentators says something like, "and Webber is getting held up by a Virgin", or, "Glock is really fighting with that Virgin".
Well, it could be said that Sportydan has made a good point here (perhaps inadvertently?). These low ranking teams provide a spring-board for all sorts of people to become involved in Grand Prix success (yes, even at the back of the field). All manner of people get an opportunity; a showcasing if you like. This can and does act as a platform which galvanises interest in all sorts of ways. These little* teams do matter. In a sense, they provide a service to F1 in the big scale. *Little only in the scale of Grand Prix racing. In any other form of motor sport these little teams would be top dogs.
It was hinted a little sarcastic at the likes of Karthikeyan, buts its a good stepping stone for senna, who now has a chance at Renaults
Yes. I hope you realise I was not restricting this life-line of opportunity to drivers. Perhaps I didn't make that very clear. As for 'Senna: the B-side', guess what? - I don't rate it ! - Not even a one-hit-wonder!
True Cosicave engineers, team bosses, aerodynamics and other team members have to start somewhere too.
Im not really sure of that either. Senna doesn't look like he will get much of chance. Chandhok may get the Indian GP but other than that a few fridays may be his limit. The others don't need an explaination. So Ricciardo wont be using this as a stepping stone. IMO he has a toro rosso seat next year and this is to help prepare him for it. Torro Rosso are his real stepping stone.
Not to mention the plethora of other businesses who get involved. There are literally thousands of beneficiaries who get a taste of the big-time and may (and often do) hang around even after the demise of a lowly team.
Hahahaha… At last you are completely and utterly wrong! It's exactly what I do for a living! But I'm also realistic in appraising a driver's attributes. I need to be, otherwise I'd be out of a job!
Ok ok fair enough. But seriously do you really not rate Senna? I know he did not set the world on fire at HRT but I do not think even his uncle could of done that much in that car. Senna would of got the Honda 2009 seat if they had not pulled out and I think in his test he came within 0.3 secs of Button's best time which was about the same gap between Button and Barrichello in quali in Oz, so who knows what could of happened if Senna had got the seat. I am not saying I think Senna is really good, nor that he is crap, just that he has not had a proper chance yet in F1 to show what he has got, if anything. However my view is probably not without bias and your view is most likely more objective than mine. I just hope he gets a go in the Renault because then we will know the answer.
