Just a thought but I was wondering whether it was time to refresh our Mod team. On this board there is very little for a Mod to do as we are generally pretty polite and enjoy "gentle" arguments.

However I personally thought one aspect of a Mod was to contribute fairly regularly to the board. Hornette asked a little while ago whether she should step down as she had other commitments that were likely to prevent her active participation for a while - we voted a resounding NO. (more than 55% I may add)

I am not wanting to "have a go" but wonder whether it is not time for BHD to make the same offer. He has not posted here in nearly a month - and now seems to find his interest primarily on another part of the board on NFL.

From my experience as a Mod some while ago I found it an interesting activity as it made me think harder about other people's posts.

There may be others who would enjoy the chance to step up and have a go.

    What do others think?

As a moderator from another board, I obviously have no "right of input" on this board, which I feel very comfortable on thanks to the hospitality shown by every member of this forum! I do look in on the Norwich board and I read every thread on there and I'm sure H and babydan do the same on here.

From what I have seen, there is very little need of any moderation on here other than the exemplary self moderation performed by your good selves!

Best of luck to you whatever you decide, I'm confident very little will change on this board! <cheers>

Agree with you there Canary - but somehow I feel that Mods should show their presence somewhat. I resigned as Mod here when I realized I would be unable to commit to being around should the need arise. It concerns me a little that BHD does not now post here at all and maybe someone else - Yorkie or OFH perhaps could be given a stint as they are very "present" and respected - you would also be an ideal candidate if you knew which was the best Championship club :) but of course you don't

I would not want to "sack" BHD as he has been a good Mod - but if his attention is now elsewhere it could be a time for change.

I think we are quite good at self policing and if BHD wants time looking at other things for a period let him. I was tired doing match threads, had some time away and feel much better about writing again. Saturday and Tuesday games all the time was too much. If Hornette and BHD are flying in the background that is really what we need only.

I agree - so long as they are - but a couple of comments have been made on threads recently asking for a Mod opinion and were ignored - suggests the Mods are not checking. The Mods have to read the posts at least even if they do not contribute. As I said before though - it should be BHD's call - but maybe he would want to stand aside having been in place for a while to let someone fresh have a chance.

Personally, I think anyone who wants to be a mod must be off their rocker...

I think I rememebr both BHD and H saying that they'd take a back seat on the posting, but would still read and moderate when needed. We are lucky where we generally don't get too many WUMs on this board, and if we do get one, they're generally dealt with pretty well and don't last long

I'm happy for them to both stay on, but maybe we could have an additional mod on the board to help out. You can have 3 or 4 I think, so is feasible.

Aye, there's the rub. Not having a go at you at all, Mex, because I'm not offering either, but as anyone who has been on a committee in sports club, Parish Council or similar, there are always plenty of people prepared to say 'what you ought to do is...' but are not prepared to put themselves forward for positions of responsibility.

Do not get me wrong - I am not opposed to our Mods - they have done a great job - however I am now slightly concerned that neither seems to be active. When H took a back seat it was fine as BHD posted here every day. Now neither is very present - at least H explained her position. I would like BHD to at least visit this thread and let us know his position. For all I know he reads everything but chooses not to speak - which I would not have a problem with.

On the point of not being prepared to put themselves forward - I do not want to Mod again - been there done that - but I would do the job if say BHD indicated he wanted to stand down and no other regular poster would do it. If I were any of you I would be thoroughly fed up with me - I talk too much, voice my opinion on too many threads and am not always the least aggressive of posters - but at least it keeps the forum alive. :)

Very true Gordon <laugh> In that spirit I'm quite prepared to put forward a detailed list of rules none of which will serve any purpose apart from suiting my own agenda and then nominating you to do it.

Joking apart, if it was decided to have a third mod, I'm happy to chuck my hat in the ring.

Same, I'd be happy to help out if needed. I don't post much but I check the site all day, one of the benefits of being in charge of IT <cool>

Personally I would prefer not to see the number of Mods increase here. The position is an obligation not a right or privilege. If BHD no longer wants to do the job - and I have to say in the recent spat with super-mods he was noticeable again by his absence and left H struggling to fight our corner alone. Again I would like to hear from BHD - assuming he ever reads this board now. If he is dong his "duty" then please let him tell us he is - or step down and let one of our volunteers take up the position.

Since so many people on here like democracy perhaps we should elect our Mods for a period of 12 months and then have a change.
