I don't like labels. I don't really conform to any stereotypes or try to categorise myself. I'm fairly well rounded; I like to play sports/exercise, but I also like to read. Listen to a very diverse type of music from Zydeco to Jazz, to classical. I'm a huge outdoors nut. I certainly have attributes from both those groups but I'm not really into nerd/geek culture- I certainly wouldn't fit the stereotype of one. I actually never wanted to be a programmer/never intended to be a programmer! I accidentally became one.
To me "Nerd" is someone who obsesses about some intellectual discipline or another and is probably a bit awkward about fitting in to day to day life... perhaps a bit socially awkward. Geek is a subculture with such likes as anime, videogames, sci-fi, fantast etc... etc... I'm a bit antisocial off line- but not socially awkward- just a little introverted- couldn't care less about pop-culture or what Kim Cardassian does with her hair style. I don't really obsess over any "pusuit"- I have a wide variety of interests that I pursue for a while and then get bored with- I need variety. I can't stand anime and where as I like some computer games- I don't like the "gamer culture" - I'm not really into many "Geek" interests... I do like some Sci-Fi but I don't obsess over it. So I probably have some aspects from both groups- but I don't really belong to either completely.
I was a biology major in University. I always wanted to be a field zoologist living out in Africa following cats around seemed like the dream job for me! Watching Lions hump Lionesses in Kenya- what could be better? Anything outside an office... even being a Park Ranger would be acceptable to me! University in US is different to university in UK- in the US you spend less than half the time doing your actual major- most of the time you spend on "electives"- and general other classes. (the idea is to make you "well rounded"). I took a lot of computer programing classes because I found them easy and a good way to boost my GPA (grade point average). Last two years in university I decided I didn't want to do Biology any more... still liked subjects like Macro Biology, Zoology, Genetcs, Ecology, etc... but most of the classes left to do were more chemistry related- and there is nothing more boring to me than Chemistry. Worse than chemistry is organic chemistry. So, I switched majors to Computer Science, because I could... I had taken enough electives in CS (to boost my GPA), that I could switch last year and get a Computer Science degree instead and get to avoid all that dull boring Chemistry. Took a programming job out of University because... I needed a job. Been stuck doing it for 15 years now! I still hate working in an office- can't stand to be in front of a PC all day. At this point though- I'd have to take a pay cut to do anything else- which if it were just me would be fine- but I have a wife and three kids to support. Once the kids leave home I may start a second career doing something that I like. No idea what though. I took one of those career-profile tests once to see if there was something I was suited to less boring than programming. It told me: Programmer or Teacher. I already know that Programming is boring- maybe I'll become a teacher when I grow up. I'd love to be an author- but my grammar sucks!
Just nailed the Mammoth Mixed Grill in twelve minutes. Got hot chocolate fudge cake with ice cream on the way now
Who? You didn't need to provide me with a personality profile, but you certainly don't come across as anti-social - just a yank twat
My wife calls me anti-social all the time! I am a bit... I'm friendly to everyone and get along well with everyone I meet. Don't really have any enemies or people I don't get along with. I'd just rather not deal with people all the time. That's what great about forums- I can shut down Chrome when I get tired of people! I don't know about Fiona having not seen her... I may want to put tipex over the screen to block you out though! Part of my stubbornness: I still spell everything the English way when communicating with people over here and use Britishisms all the time. I refuse to adapt- America can adapt to me! The plus side is when I misspell something people think it's just the British way to spell it.
Hey, you haven't heard about my childhood yet... you see... it all started after I was born... I would sit there in the pram and start to think...
I'd just rather not deal with people all the time. That's what great about forums- I can shut down Chrome when I get tired of people! Fiona is really quite fit. Mid-30s. Great arse. Smallish tits. Longish light brown hair. Quite intelligent (compared to 95% of the clientele in there) and a good giggle. A little too heavily reliant on the white stuff, though.
I prefer large baps... but the rest sounds good. Perhaps if she used a pencil instead of pen she would be less reliant on tipex.
She doesn't snort tipex. Well not to my knowledge anyway, though you never know in the Cheese. One bloke downed a popper in one and was rapidly admitted to hozzy
2PM... I think I've worked enough for today! (I was working until 10PM last night- I've earned it) - enjoy your weekend everyone- I'm off for sun, sand and surf... unfortunately the kids are coming with us! Just checked the weather... only going to be 27C this weekend! Getting cooler!
Just got in after footy. First ten minutes we couldn't see a thing because of the low sun and went 4-0 down. The sun then went behind the houses. Game ended 5-5. Got to be happy with that
