I love the way he says four top players, no mention of Lovren. Ha ha, Savage has gone up in my books just for that omission!
And Savage is right...even Saints fans didn't see us doing so well early on in the season. I was afraid that we would lose early easier games whilst we settled in. Didn't see relegation because I was willing to bet there were a few other teams worse than us.
No Robbie, we didn't expect such a great start to the season. But then neither were we stupid enough to think that Saints wouldn't spend some of the £90M+ to help stop the rot either. Honestly, pundits can be as thick as petrified elephant poo, at times. At no time did I think we'd be relegated. I thought we might flirt with the lower half of the table though. Now, injuries aside, I think Spurs and Everton need to up their game or move over.
Although it was tongue in cheek I said we would be Champions this season before a ball was kicked. In reality I didn't think we would be champions. I did think we would improve on last season though as I was not the biggest fan of Pochetino's one dimensional play with no plan B or C and think that Lambert would still be knocking them in for fun under Adkins or Koeman. So before the season I thought top6 with a chance of top4. Now I think the same although I think it is even more likely.
I love how Savages apology is mostly self justification but i'll still accept it. Savage gets away with it a bit by being thick as a brick so there's no hard feelings in that sense, just maybe shut your feminine mouth next time robbie. I predicted this would happen, in my thesis about the universe collapsing into a singularity i stated that the last warning sign would be Paul Merson making a reasoned, rational observation.
I do find this previously silent majority of people on here who never liked sounds-like-a-coffee's tactics, quite surprising. They must have been being polite to the rest of us by not saying anything at the time, when Poch was actually here... Don't get me wrong I think the guy's a git now too, and I deperately want to hammer Spurs. And while we're at it I was very upset when Nigel was sacked in that way. But, I thought MoPo was a revelation at the beginning of last summer and I was genuinely worried when we lost him.
I do find this previously silent majority of people on here who never liked....... _______________________________- The way he came in & implemented his ideas on our squad was very impression, but he was difficult to relate to. Very little acknowledgement of the away support at times, the way he played the contract talks, we were just a stepping stone. I don't think he treated us with much respect if I'm honest, did he ever sign for saints, or was it just the chairman? Now when I look back all I see is no Plan B.
I thought we'd struggle this season. Seems like I'm the only one who thought that then? Nah, don't think so.
I loved the exciting way Poch got us playing, but, like a lot of people, saw his lack of plan B. However, I hoped he was learning with us and would be better in his second complete season if he got a few extra players. I also thought that we would never attract a really good manager...how wrong was I? I couldn't and still can't see MP being as successful at a club with bigger egos. Now he is talking to the press at Spurs, I realise how disrespectful he was being to us...hiding behind the lovely David.
Yep. And we wants to stay there for years to come. He should check the time line of spurs managers before buying that apartment.
Someone who claimed to be ITK on SaintsWeb (for whatever that's worth) said that his coaches tried to dissuade MP from going to Spurs...they wanted to stay here. Who knows?
