Damn Skippy! I'm kidding . . . Cricket, on the other hand . . . You're at home, so you'll probably win this one. With your defensive frailties, though, West Ham will cause you problems, like they did with us. I predict Downing will play a blinder.
The big winners of United's inconsistency must be the bookies. I bet they have cleaned up with all these weird results United have been getting in the past 15 months. 90% of United games were a banker, but now they are so inconsistent.......
Seriously if we dont win this I dont see us winning for a while with Everton, Chelsea and City on the horizon.
I read (can't remember where, so hopefully someone else saw it too) that LVG indicated that he's likely to promote one of the youngsters to play CB, rather than Carrick. He said something about he only has fit central defenders that can play as the left sided central defender, so he'll promote a youngster as it's part of the club's DNA, despite what the press have been writing about him & the team lately. Must say I expected a Carrick or Fletcher to play if they were fit, which youngsters are in line to play (i.e. not injured or on loan elsewhere)?
Paddy McNair and Tom Thorpe will be in the squad. Thorpe is captain of the under 21's. I've seen them only a couple of times, including the Youth Cup. I would rather he went with Thorpe but imo it's going to be a baptism of fire against Sakho and Valencia. Btw who actually thinks Carrick or Fletcher have EVER been anything other than a complete liability when they've been stuck in defence. Just don't like that idea at all.
We should have bought Song. He is still a half decent defensively minded midfielder, but importantly in his last season at Arsenal he set up RVP virtually every game they played together. They read each other very well.
