Absolutely bang on, Need strikers up there, to make them have reason, to still defend plus it works best for us as there is always someone to hold the ball up front, which relieves the defenders of another attack, also need to keep possesion . I'm starting to doubt bruces logic, especially if he does this again!

Who do you suggest? Guardiola, Mourinho maybe bring Ian 'the brain' Dowie back to solve this unacceptable mid-table problem we have?

When you say top 5 do you mean in the Championship? or top 5 divisions?

Maybe a 'Bruce out' chant in the 20th minute, then Hernandez out cos he's only scored once FFS

Nothing to do with Steve Bruce. It all boils down to one thing. A lack of concentration as the clock ticks down.

In saying that, only the Italians have ever been able to kill off a game properly.

Nothing to worry about IF whoever is playing does the basics. Not giving away cheap possession would also help.

****e teams don't take the lead, they get beaten out of sight.
    We have been unlucky.
    v Stoke with 10 men.
v Newcastle, lucky last throw of the dice by Pardew, disallowed goal by us.
v Lockeren. away goals rule. Dodgy goal keeping mistake at their place.
v WBA, losing 3-2 away from home in injury times isn't a team playing ****e.
    v WHU, we were unlucky.
v Villa we were beaten by a better team on the day.

If you're going to take your scorers off at least bring Sagbo on. He relieves so much pressure with his hold up play and I honestly think he's the best we have to bring on for seeing out a game we're winning.

It could just be a case of our new look team still gelling but to be honest most conceded goals have been poor defensive errors and we only have two changes at the back so something needs sorting there. It's just not working at the moment but we're scoring 2 goals a game!

I'll start worrying if we lose to palace on the 4th(?), but to now we're in a rough patch that everyone gets every now and then. Hopefully we'll finish stronger than last year since we probably won't have a cup run.

Are these the same newbies who all make the same spelling mistakes, have similar views, are unable to paragraph, can't use capital letters correctly & have poor punctuation skills?

Should have seen the game out against newcastle was in total control , bad mistake by Quinny ( and he knew it) West ham are a decent team ask Liverpool again drew due to a poor bit of keeping
Stoke 10 men bad refereeing decision draw.
    10th place in the league
A squad of players from which our excellent manager can mould a very decent team
Tough games coming up as in all of them, this is the premier league after all
Signs of panic from the faint hearted.....totally predictable

I don't think it's panic from the faint-hearted, just bemusement and frustration that we've gone from one of the best defences in the leqgue to one of the worst at the exact moment we seem to have sorted out our lack of cutting edge at the other end. Its all very well to call it a rough patch but it stretches back to the end of last season. We were lucky to get 3 points at qpr (a battling defensive performance ironically enough) and were outplayed by west ham for long periods of that game, so there are genuine causes for concern. Hopefully Bruce will work out his strongest side soon. And start picking Chester.

Ok panic is maybe a little strong though people predicting being in the bottom three imminently sounds a little like panic.
I agree it's frustrating all the newcastle fans I have spoken to think we threw it 2 points away, though it was not a defensive error which cost us the first goal it came from a very sloppy pass in centre midfield. I also agree that Chester should play and maybe given the attacking power of man city Bruce will switch to a 3 5 2 formation.
It's hard to put your finger on why we are not seeing games out.
In a way I think the deadline day signing have changed our perceptions and expectations of how city will play. Would we have got HBA or Ramirez if Snodgrass hadn't been injured ? Snodgrass is slower less flamboyant but more solid than either of those two, likewise what would our expectations of the front two have been if we had got Rhodes instead of Hernandez ?
Personally I know what I prefer, oddly if you ask any newcastle supporter for their favourite time in the modern era most would opt for the team of ginola,Beardsley ,Asprilla,Ferdinand, etc great going forward soft at the back. Finding the right balance is what makes great teams and what sets aside great managers from the rest. On paper we have a squad to compete in the upper reaches of the mid table block and to do so playing exciting football not the Pulis stoke brand.

I wonder what people expect from City sometimes.

At the start of the season I just hoped we could stay up. By the end of the transfer window I expect we'll stay up (rightly or wrongly). To do that we'll need to average about a point per game over the season. I think the stats say 37 points on average in the PL eara.

We should be expecting to do that by beating the bottom half at home and scratching draws away from home against the same teams. We shouldn't be expecting to get anything at all from the top 5 or 6 and very little from the rest of the top half except maybe an odd draw.

So far we've got 6 from 5 so on track really. After ten games I'd probably expect us to be on 9 for 10 so in about the same position as we head to Burnley at home.

Might we do better? I hope so.
Might we do worse? God I hope not.

At this stage anything could happen but without a doubt I personally think this is the best squad I've seen in Black and Amber and we could be close to doing a bit better than just surviving.

All seems very hostile, you two related? I thought all HC supporters could post here?

Obviously I have upset yourself and Ben, which was not my intention. I will check my grammar and punctuation in future and keep my posts to single word responses if it's annoying you? Or how about you just skip my posts if you dont like them?

As a 'Senior member' I would have expected a simple welcome or a heads up if I was doing something wrong on this board. Surely you big enough to just move on if you dont like what your reading?

I agree you do want to aim for around a point a game as the low side of survival and yes you might say we're ahead of target at present, however it is the games we've played that in my opinion see us behind target. After 12 games I think we'll be well below the point per game target, maybe only half way there.

    Good username btw <ok>
