Striker David Healy has signed a new one-year deal with Rangers and is hoping to have the opportunity to make more of an impression in his new stint at the club.

The Northern Ireland international arrived at Ibrox on a short-term deal in January but has struggled for fitness since leaving Sunderland.

But new Rangers boss Ally McCoist has decided to give the 31-year-old a second chance in the form of the new contract.

Healy says he wants to stay fit to repay his manager's faith in him, and is eager to give him an alternative option up front.

Healy said: "I'm delighted to have been given this chance. I always said that joining the club in January was a huge honour and it was great to finish last season on such a high after winning the title and getting the double (by winning the CIS Insurance Cup)."
