GALLERY: Saints train for QPR test - http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/news/article/20140925-gallery-training-for-qpr-test-1962127.aspx
I know that this is tempting fate and very unlikely but IF we win by three clear goals against QPR AND Villa beat Chelsea (OK, I'm in dream land, but...) we would be top of the Premier League by 5:00 pm on Saturday. As I'm clearly into the realms of fantasy, an alternative would be that Chelsea sneak a draw, then next week we beat Spurs, Chelsea lose or draw, and we're top of the league in front of Pochettino. Right, back to my day job of walking on water...
It's a shame Chelsea aren't playing at half 5/Sunday as we could go top with a thrashing, now we need Chelsea to lose and win comfortably. I'd be satisfied with going a few up, Villa taking the lead and being top as it stands and Chelsea getting a last minute goal.
According to oddschecker, the odds for a win are 7/15 Saints, 8/1 QPR. Not a betting person, but not impossible for QPR to win in a 2 horse race, so 8/1 worth a punt? (Except I wouldn't).
They are 8 to 1 for a reason, thier midfield is in ruins, thier attack is not upto much and thier CBs have to be the slowest in the league. A draw could be possible if we play really badly, but this has home win banker on it all day long
OK, it's a nice thought, but if we win well against QPR we'll still be second. That's a pretty good thought too, and entirely feasible.
At the moment, the only team level on points with us is Villa, and we've got a +6 better goal difference than them, so winning 1-0 on Saturday will be enough to keep us in second. Unless Villa win, of course, which brings us back to my initial idea, as Villa are playing Chelsea!
Chelsea are +9 on 13 points, we are +6 on 10, and Villa are 0 on 10. So if we beat QPR by 2 goals and Villa beat Chelsea by 2 goals we will go top. In that scenario we would be +8 on 13, Chelsea would be +7 on 13, and Villa would be +2 on 13. Other scenarios are available.
It's actually a three horse race. The draw is around 7/2 and might tempt a few people. If I was a neutral I'd consider backing that outcome, but on reflection the best value looks like the Saints win. We should be about 2/5 in my book. As for the QPR win, you'd be better off backing one of the market leaders in the big Handicap at Newmarket; at least then you can bet each way and you might get better than 8/1 against the favourite.
9-0 McQueen hat-trick. Saw it in my coffee whilst gazing Oh and hopefully a 'sacked in the morning' chant that turns into reality the following day. Can't stand the wheeler dealer
Isgrove looks back in training as well. However I hope McQueen gets a 20 minute cameo replacing Mane when we are 5 nil up
What concerns me is lack of photos in the gallery of JRod. He appeared months ago, but now never features so he must be training on his own. I know he won't be back for ages, but why was he occasionally seen before and not now. Has there been a set back? Or is it just that training now is more vigorous (and riskier) whereas he was allowed to appear when everyone was just trotting around.
