Lennon and Tan <laugh> Lennon would fill him in - it's a non starter. Houghton has too much respect for himself to go there.

Quite logical picking Slade,if Cardiff are trying to follow the Swansea way. Rodgers was virtually unknown and on the dole after being sacked by Reading, look what he did for us and where he is now.
Both men have strong personalties and are able to highly motivate players.

I disagree Keith and I think that's an oversimplification. Rodgers was chosen because he fitted well with the way we like to play, not the other way around. There is no evidence that Slade's teams play attractive football and his win rate isn't that good in a lower division. It was under 30% a couple of seasons ago, and that's why their fans are by and large not particularly enthusiastic.

Hopefully he'll get a long contract, do the business and take the ****ers to the Conference.

    Quite.

    Rogers background -
'Rodgers spent a large amount of time travelling around Spain studying different coaching methods, and was eventually invited by manager José Mourinho to leave his role of Academy Director at Reading and join the Chelsea Academy as their head youth coachin 2004 after a recommendation by Mourinho's assistant and future Premiership manager Steve Clarke.[8][13] He was promoted to reserve team manager two years later, and was kept in that position by subsequent Chelsea managers Avram Grant and Luiz Felipe Scolari.[9]'(Wikipedia)

'Slade then had spells in charge of non-league sides Armitage and Leicester United before joining the coaching staff of Sheffield United in 1997. He had two spells as caretaker manager of The Blades in 1998 and 1999 before the appointment of Neil Warnock. In 2001 he took over the managerial post at Conference National side Scarborough before later moving to Grimsby Town in 2004 and Yeovil Town in 2006. He was appointed manager of Brighton & Hove Albion in 2009 but the stay was brief and he was dismissed in November 2009. At Leyton Orient he has had led the club to two 7th place finishes, an FA Cup fifth round replay against Arsenal and took the O's to the Play-Off Final in 2013-14 - a feat which saw win the LMA League 1 Manager of the Year award.'

No disrespect to Slade or the teams he was with but appointing Rodgers was all about quality.

There are Loads of far better managers out there than slade who quite honestly i had never knew he existed until now but tan don't have the luxury like most clubs as he is very limited in who will work for him, <ok>

Haven't they signed Noddy Holder yet?

Rumour has it that he wants Garry Glitter as his No.2. :emoticon-0102-bigsm:

Edited quickly to avoid misunderstanding. It didn't remind me of anyone connected with Cardiff.

See Libertarian's post above (#54) - my response was an "innocent" jest based on that post. Nothing else implied or intended! <ok>

If you never knew he existed how do you know there are loads of better managers? Do they have to be some sort of A-list celeb first? We're as clueless as you lot mind over how he will cope but this will make an interesting season for us all! Can't do much worse than Ole though.
