Below is a link that shows the new home kit for the coming 2011/2012 season: http://pompeypages.com/2011/06/30/portsmouth-201112-home-shirt-revealed/ IMO, I quite like it, and will probably be buying it (seeing as I havent bought a shirt in 2 years (the white away one from our last prem season), and not had a home shirt for 3 years!). Whats everyone elses opinions?
Thats a nice kit apart from that massive Kapa things on the sleeves. I think they make the kit look cheap David Nugent sounds like signing for us later today
Now now Matt - you sound like those bitter boychums, StGod and Duckfiddler............. I wish him well, wherever he ends up.
Surprised you are not personally sponsored by either www.weirdos.com/ OR www.myboyfriendisatwat.com/ Have a nice day Licky, or should that be tourettesaint ?
------------------------------------ Please stop me laughin' - you're SO witty, SO topical, SO funny.........so eff off back on the sashed board. It's all been done before........
I don't think he is welcome anywhere, to be honest. Definitely a case of Care in the Community not working for him.
Shirt is OK. Just don't particulary like the sponsers name plastered all over the front- especially after what we've been thru, but not much choice there! ..and another thing- take the Portsmouth FC off of the club badge. Most football fans know the star and crescent. It looks much better on it's own thankyou very much.
Interesting you say that. I've been to some far flung corners of this globe and it never fails to surprise me that even the 'natives' recognize the 'star & crescent' belongs to PFC.
Don't like the Huge Kappa or Jobsite logos - jobsite and kappa on the same shirt, I ask you. I also agree with FFD about the club crest and, finally, Pompey's main club colour is royal blue not some arty farty French blue. So no, I don't like it. And if that makes me a Victor Meldrew I've achieved something today!
http://www.history.inportsmouth.co.uk/events/coatofarms.htm It's not just on football shirts, manhole covers, fences, lamp posts, you name it (in Pompey), it's got a star and crescent on it!
According to legend it goes back to the time of Richard the Lionheart. All sorts of myths abound but the only known facts are that Richard took possession of the coat of arms of a crescent moon and eight pointed star on an azure background when he defeated Issac Comnenus, ruler of Cyprus, on his way to the third crusade in Tyre in 1192. It is also fact that Richard granted Portsmouth its first charter in 1194 on his return from the third crusade, but whether he also granted the arms or they were just adapted by the city elders in his honour is lost in the mists of time.
Without also wishing to be a tease, what's the history behind Southamptons crest? To me it looks like four different, prominent people, had an idea each and instead of choosing and using just one, as rightly might be expected, they bunged them all on it, together.
