Please vote for your favourite WFC goalkeeper of all time.

    Voting lasts until Friday 11pm

All other positions from defence to attack to follow over the next few weeks. Hopefully this will give us the complete WFC dream team!

Its Tony Coton for me, larger than life, great shop stopper and as tough as they come!

The obvious answer is Coton, and the obvious answer for the youngsters is Chamberlain.

I've gone for Kevin Miller, because in comparison to the other two, I don't think people appreciate the job he did with the terrible teams he had in front of him. If memory serves me correctly, the fee we got for him was pretty handy too.

As NNW said. I am of the younger generation and Chamberlain is the best goalkeeper i've seen play for Watford live (i'm not counting loanees like Foster). Even in his olden days Boothroyd called on him for experience at the end of the 04/05 season and he kept 3 clean sheets out of 4.

Pat Jennings is probably the one who did best overa career but he only spent one season at Watford so I went for Tony Coton who was awesome for us

Leo, I agree. Pat Jennings was an outstanding keeper. One of my outstanding memories was the way he would pluck the ball one handed from crosses and corners.Overall though Tony Coton gets my vote

Poor old Stevey Sherwood, not a single vote! do you think he would have got anywhere without Andy Gray barging him over, plus the hand full of clangers he did score a goal too :emoticon-0100-smile

I went for Steve Sherwood as I remember him getting walloped in the FA Cup final by the cheating Andy Gray and he deserves not to come last in something.

TC for me. ET, "Shirley" may have scored a goal, but DJ got 2 - one for the youth and one for the reserves. Shame he couldn't complete his hat-trick for the first team. If there was a poll for worst keeper, my choice would be Tony Meola - the reason it's not Gary Plumley is that Meola was an international at the time, but Plumley had retired.

I've gone for Coton. Chamberlain and Shirley second & third. The latter was better than horror show clips would have it.

My memory tells me I did see Jennings play but I was so young I can't really remember anything, and my memory also tells me that I saw my first game in autumn '64 by which time he'd already gone to Spurs, according to Wpedia. One or other memory is false, which is disturbing. I shall have to GO UP INTO THE LOFT and do some programme research!
I remember dearly loving Bert Slater- great name for a keeper- but my abiding memory is the goal he let in against Liverpool in the League Cup, when he basically punched at the near post at a corner and got it wrong.

Mike Walker not on the list- is the opinion he wasn't good enough?

I was ten when TC first came to Watford, I can remember him dancing round the corner flag near the old family enclosure standing area (whilst we were attacking and the ball was in play) we beat Darlington 8-0 I believe, must have been 86 or 87 after he had been with us a few years . Great memory ,,

My abiding memory of Bert is that, after every midweek home game, I'd make my way straight to the old supporters club bar from The Rookery and find him perched on his stool by the bar, pint in hand. How on earth he managed to get off the field, showered, changed and into the bar in that short period of time is one of life's mysteries. He was actually quite a good keeper, whose career was possibly prematurely ended by his liking for a pint or two, but was a great character. I shed a couple of tears when I read of his death a while back.

Couldn't agree more. I met him at a junior hornets function once and he was a really nice chap as well. Instinctively I would have gone for Coton but opted for Miller in the end.
