It's not easy. I'd like to see this tried out but don't expect it to ever happen. --------------------McGregor -----------Chester-----------Davies Elmo-----------------------------------Rosenior ----------Diame-------------Huddlestone Ben-Arfa------------------------------Robertson -------------Jelavic----Hernandez
Now you come to mention it, it doesn't make a great deal of sense. As a leaky ship fills up with water until, inevitably, it sinks deep into the briny, so our goal takes in balls with a sickening certainty that by the final whistle our hopes will be sunk without trace. Especially after the 80 minute mark. Is that a better simile. Or metaphor. Truth be told though, I've never been much good with boats. Don't like the sea. Or penguins. Or seals. Or the cold. Or the company of men.
Bruce's ring must be really chewing his pants at the moment. Can't defend for toffee and Man City on Saturday. Silva and Co will rung rings round Big Fat Tom
WHy the **** should we have to play with 3 at the back though? It seemed to work for a while but other than that who else plays like that? oh manchester united...look how well that is going. The moment we start leaking goals with 3 or 5 at the back then you know there's a problem. On top of that it takes away from the midfield or the attack. It feels like it all started when we got Elmo. We adapted for him, who isn't the most defensive player but not quite an out and out winger and started playing 352 to cover for his lack of cover. I think we should scrap 5 at the back and go 4 like everyone else.
Stupid changing the defence with 4 minutes to go. Chester and McShane were settled. Should've just stuck Huddlestone in when Meyler had to go off. Same as usual - have a lead, make silly defensive change and concede. Will do wonders for Maguire's confidence too!
Well he came on in the 85th minute when we were winning and we went on to lose the game so I'm guessing maybe not that well . I'm not blaming him for anything as I didn't see the game , just saying he probably won't remember it as his best ever substitute appearance
Well defensively we ain't gonna get anything out if it on Saturday so we might as well go on the attack big time
I suppose the difference between the top teams and teams like City is consistency ... look how we played in the first 30 minutes at Wembley in the final with a weaker squad and now we don't seem to be able to grind results out after having strengthened ... I expected the fringe squad members to stake a claim for starts v Man City by keeping a clean sheet .... so we're out of Europe, out of the League Cup, who goes out on loan from a squad that is now probably way too big and pricey for the number of games we've got for them to play? Maguire seems the most likely ...... after last season, I really got an appetite for cup runs ... never really believing City could do it before ... I wanted us to progress in this one ... gutted ... feel for Steve Bruce .... though I suspect he wanted to create competition for places simply to stabilise the club in the Premier League and avoid "2nd season syndrome" .....
It was always going to end the way it did my friend. No wonder Oatesy did one, ya miserable sod. I won't Google it, that would be cheating but here goes; In the name of God, look after our people.
Change for change sake. Not broke don't try to fix it at the minute Come on Brucey don't be the tinker man for gods sake
It never ceases to amaze me just how many tactical and team selection experts we have on these boards when our team loses. All much wiser AFTER the event of course. Once again we managed to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory so . . . blame Bruce, or anybody. We got done chaps! End of!
I don't think anyone thinks they are a tactical expert but pretty much every game from the Trencin game we have gotten the tactics and selection wrong, so it is only right that people are discussing such things and giving their opinion (on an internet forum).
Well except that I knew we'd lose as soon as I saw the line up at 5am this morning. Every time we play in the cup Bruce puts out a really strange line up then apologises when we lose for putting out a really strange line up. Then does it again.
Oatesy was nowt to do with me. I counted all mine out and I counted 'em all back, so to speak. Had to eat me dogs though. 96 Canadian Sledge Dogs unaccounted for. Took some explaining to the RSPCA I can tell you. Good job there was a war on.
I've made a fool of myself, I'm a bit squiffy due to the amount of Shiraz consumed. I'm bordering on being mortalled. Even Kelly Malone is looking appealing to me right now. What have I become?
I think it just boils down to a manager signing players on the strength of what he's seen them do elsewhere then finding out, for whatever reason, they don't do it all the time, in different places or with different players around them ... I suppose that's why some managers fail to get much out of the most expensive squads ... I certainly trust Bruce to sort it out if anyone can. I think we've got him at the best time of his career ... been around the block a few times, made mistakes elsewhere, hopefully learned from them, not too old to know what's going on .... still .... with my Amber tinted specs on .... as a City fan .... we lost .... it's not as if it's some new sensation for us is it ... maybe it shows how far we've come ... that losing at West Brom is such a let down .... I'll choose to see it that way. Night all ..
