Was I the only one a bit happy the England under-21's ddn't live up to expectations this summer?

I know its harsh, and we have some amazing young talent regardless of the result, but I can remeber Lansbury saying pre the tournament he wasn't sure on his future and he wanted to use this tournament to show Wenger how good he was as he fights for a first team place at Arsenal?

Does Wenger see the imminent departure (apparently) of all his good footballers as Henris chance at the big time or will he be offloaded in place of new blood as Arsenal enter a new age under that Kroenke bloke or whoever he is

Only time will tell, but an under the radar performance at the under-21's may have pushed him further towards Norwich...?

My thoughts: I'd have him here in a heartbeat, he's perfect for our squad, great with the lads behind closed doors and I'm sure with work from our training team, who seem to have the ability to transform players, he would be perfect for the premier league. He just screams "premier league player" to me, I don't know why.

    most definately,

gotta agree with Beefy on this one, would be a great addition to your squad if you could get him, and he'll only get better...

hope Wenger see's sense and keeps him!

  5. I heard Wenger wants to use him as part of a deal to sign Gary Cahill from Bolton.

National pride aside I sort of agree with you. The Under 21's were absolute ****e, seem to be learning a thing or too from the senior bottlers in our national team.

Lansbury impressed me, excellent player there was the odd game when he went missing, but that happens with midfielders. He fitted in well and seemed like a character behind the scenes which is what you want, one big thing a lot of people forget about squads is you need morale and spirit, you can have a team of technically gifted players, but if they don't have that extra bit of self assurance in the players around them there is no confidence and no motivation.

As for Cahill situation that's going to be one of signings of the summer, Wenger is notoriously tight when it comes to splashing the cash so a part exchange deal could be on the cards.

  7. I guess the heartening thing is that it would suggest Wenger is willing to part with him. Offer £4m and test his resolve, I think Lansbury is worth that as he still has potential to realise.

Would have him back in a heartbeat as he is a solid all round player with an eye for a pass. He scored some brave and important goals for us last season and I'm sure he'd be more willing to play here than Bolton. No disrespect to Bolton, just mean geographically and the fact that he played for us last season.
