He needs to be sold in January. I am sure a few German club would be willing to take him and it would also free up wages.

Looked disinterested from what I heard. Seems his attitude has deteriorated.

He was piss poor but then, imo, so were Rosicky and Campbell. The three players who I felt should have been showcasing their talents were the three who I felt let us down the most. The inexperienced defence I felt did really well against a very decent Saints side.

The only explanation I can offer is that it's their first start of the season (I think...) and therefore they're not going to be as sharp, slick or focused as we'd expect. Rosicky at least ran around a lot but was still terrible. I think we've had a few other playes who were as bad in our first few games but had people willing to cut them some slack so I'm willing to extend the same to these guys.

Podolski is treading on thin ice though as with the arrival of Alexis and the return of Theo he'll struggle to find a place. Few of our players have his ability to score but nearly all have a higher work rate. Seeing him sulk about the pitch really won't endear him to Arsene.

I honestly wonder what some of the advocates for Podoslki starting see in him. He's best used when brought in late and I mean really late as a sub when you're just hammering long shots. He looks completely disinterested and lazily recently and as much as I like the guy maybe its time for him to return to Germany. Get a younger LW, like IDK Marco Reus.

He's best when played in the No.10 position but we never really gave him a run of games there.

Don't forget the Season before we bought him he scored 22 goals and got 13 assist as a No.10.

Now with Ozil, Carzorla and Sanchez in the side Podolskis only real option is as a LWF. The best thing Podolski offers us is his absolute thunderbolt of a left boot. He should just shoot a lot more often and would score a lot more goals.

I was actaully at the game, and I have honestly never seen a forward player move as less as Podolski did last night. Rosicky and Campbell were not great, but at least they ****ing moved and tried to do something but were just out of form. With Podolski, it was a sheer lack of effort, which is just criminal. He needs to be ****ed off when the window opens.

Wasn't Podolski about to be sold until Giroud's injury? Think Wenger is fed up with him too. I'd rather see Akpom than him atm. Still pissed about that brilliant chance he had against Dortmund that he ****ed up.
If motivated he's a good player but atm he's not looking like it. If he played with the same desire as Sanchez he'd be a world beater. TBH the rest of the squad should strive to reach Sanchez's workrate

Podolski is normally a lethal finisher, but because he is so poor off the ball, he has never managed to be really profllic in his career. But even by Podolski's standards, yesterday was piss poor. When Walcott also comes back, I can't see Podolski getting another start for Arsenal.

I doubt we will see Podolski playing anytime soon, not even coming on as a sub, he's behind Ozil, Cazorla on the left, and then when Walcott's back Sanchez will most likely also be moved to the left from time to time, so can't see how he's ever gonna make it into the team, especially after his really really bad display last night. I think a loan move in January is likely.

Yup, he was ****house last night and didn't even really look interested. That's the most galling part.

But I am sure he will post something 'funny' on his Twitter or Instagram and win the fans back over. <doh>

I think this "Effort" thing has really got out of hand. Let's face it, when things aren't working everything looks bad for you and you look disinterested/lazy/unfit; it doesn't mean that you are any of those things.

I agree that those 3 (Campbell, Rosicky, Podolski) didn't look good, but it is really tough to come into the side and shine when you haven't played for a while. Campbell is the one I would cut the most slack, new to the PL and England, first game and all, probably needs time to adapt and get used to everything.

Podolski can probably make the case that he didn't have a pre-season, but he is an old-timer and should be able to step in anytime.

Having said all that, it is one game and writing people off for one game is silly.

Utter nonsense. I was at the game, and I watched Podolski for a good Five to ten minutes, and the ****er barely moved. I doubt you even watched the match on tv, let alone live.

Why the **** are you guys so argumentative with each other? Couldn't you just say you disagree, instead of attacking him like that?

You guys are so miserable on here, I frequent every board, and the few times I have come to the Arsenal board, its infighting all the time.......
I don't even like irrational attacks on rival fans on the Chelsea board, let alone to fellow fans.
But at least when people attack rival fans you can put it down to tribalism gone mad (and a low IQ), but attacking each other like this unprovoked........Are Arsenal fans really all this disgruntled?

You make a good point. The infighting is so ingrained on here it would be hard to stop it. So much history.

Calm down, dear. I called his points, a load of nonsense, that's all. If you consider that 'abuse' then frankly, you are not living in the real world. His point irked me, because Podolski really pissed me off with his pathetic display, and therefore when TT came out with his usual spin on things, I called him out in it.

To be fair he said podolski didn't look good and should be able to step in when required. He just also suggested there may be other reasons for his display and perceived lack of effort and to give him a bit more game time before going overboard. Your reply did sound a bit snappy :p

Agreed. I said almost the same thing as TT, word for word, and I wasn't shot down. Seems he irks people before he even starts typing!

Personally I've felt for a while that Podolski has "got away" with quite a few poor performances simply because he's likeable. What annoys me the most is he has talent and could be so good for us if we used him correctly and he tried his hardest. I can't see him getting a sniff of first team football for a while now after that lack of effort.
