I have no excuse and have no idea why I did it. I was enjoying what I thought was a good debate when I completely over reacted to a couple of comments. The only person I am angry with is myself for not only behaving like a complete twat but also because having started a good debate I ruined it with my own stupidity. I promise I will never do it again so you will get no respite from this resident grumpy negative old sod.

No need to apologise mate, blimey if I apologised for the outbursts I post sometimes I'd be doing so until Christmas (next year!) 
The only person who needs to apologise is Mr Adams for not taking last night's game seriously enough. rotate the squad not fecking play a completely different team.

Thanks for the comments lads - now back to my usual argumentative self. What has Adams got to apologise for? They all train as a squad so should be used to playing with each other - and before you ask I am not talking about the showers. In the starting 11 last night 7 had got game time in at least 1 of the 8 league games played to date, Hooper and Howson had to play as did Rudd which only leaves Miquel who, by Championship standards, was an expensive buy. Adams had every right to assume that a team of that talent should be capable of dealing with Div2 opponents and if people are suggesting to the contrary then we have to query the oft quoted phrase ' we have the strongest squad in the league ' My only query about last nights team is what has happened to Ryan Bennett?
I agree that they "should" have had enough strength to beat the Shrews, but training together is not the same as playing competitive matches. When most teams from the PL or the championship play lower league teams they tend to a) retain a nucleus of a side that is used to playing together and bring fringe players, players recovering from into the side and b) keep a few of the in form players on the bench. Adams did neither of these things and therefore did not give Norwich the best chance of winning. I also think that it is better to keep the team/squad in a winning mentality and that now the "first" eleven are hardly concerned about losing their place in the next game. Squad rotation is about keeping competition alive and trying to ensure that the players are all playing to their peak- so yes I think Adams got it wrong, but he is an inexperienced manager with considerable scope for improvement and I hope him and the team evolve.

Ryan Bennett had surgery on ruptured ankle ligaments end of August. Wouldn't imagine he'll be back too soon, sadly.

I would agree with you Longsight if we had played a team of kids but he didn't. Surely the days of a rigid ' first 11 ' are gone - it is now a squad game with at least 20 players considered ' first teamers ' As I mentioned earlier we have only played 8 league games and 7 of the starting 11 have already had game time with Hooper, Howson and, possibly, Miquel likely to play in the near future. To me everybody who played last night is a ' first teamer ' and if they are not up to playing against Shrewsbury what the hell are they doing here? There is also the added point - if you don't use your squad for that sort of game when do you? Your big chance now my friend - you are Neil Adams. Who would you have played last night and how would you have kept happy the players who were expecting to get a game and didn't?
I think he had every right to put out the 11 that he did, and to expect that team to be capable of winning. I would argue though that he should have had a bench that was capable of adding some experience if things started to go wrong. Murphy apart, King, Loza, Toffolo, McFadden, McGrandles were all there to give them experience if things went well rather than to offer a serious escape route if things went badly.
It is very easy to criticise after the event, I admit. However, I would have kept a spine of the team in place and added players to the starting 11. Specifically I would have kept Turner and a centre back who may need to be paired with him in order to develop the pairing. Also either Tettey or Johnson. to play one half each for the same reason and at the front either Jerome or Grabban plus Hooper. I probably would have Redmond on the bench as he would have been a great sub to bring on against Shrews. In other words, 6-7 changes ok, but not 11.
