We set up to not take the cup seriously and concentrate on the league which is a wise plan but we will now have lots of players doing nothing and getting pissed off . For the first time in ages we have a big enough squad to compete in all 3 comps but we underestimated Shrews and lost fair and square. Let's not **** about and play our proper side against Blackpool and this blip will be forgotten.
Maybe it will give us all a bit of a reality check. Talk of 100 points and 100 goals was all a bit delirious, although the madness was understandable considering what we had had to put up with in the previous 18 months. Shame. It would have been a good way to keep the squad happy and blood the youngsters. On a different note, Lafferty is becoming a liability. It's not just the cards and the risk of the red, it's that Adams has to take him off every game to prevent going down to ten men and that limits the manager's ability to respond to what's happening on the pitch. He should be told if he doesn't discipline himself more strongly, he's history.
I would not say that I am at all worked up about it BUT....those poor 1000+ sods that made the effort to cross the country deserve a hell of a lot better! I mean - not a single shot on target? wtf is that all about? I don't want to take anything away from Shrewsbury but they are not Arsenal, Man City or Chelsea and even a 2nd string should be capable of finding the target against a L2 side.
I went to the trouble of reseaching ellipseses (plural for elipses) and I am still none the wiser how that interpretation was made? Pretty sure I would have needed to use 3 ... anyway when typing ellipseses I won' t flounce off over it as it's been an education .
992 apparently. Well done Shrews, thoroughly deserved the win and good luck in the next round, hope you get a plum tie as others have said. have to say I'm rather confused how we conspired to create not a single shot on goal, ah well, on we go to Blackpool on Saturday and a competition we have a realistic chance of winning.
Some of my greatest City moments have been in the "Mickey Mouse Cup" - the semi-final wins against Chelsea and the Binners and the final vs Sunderland. It's a pity we all now treat it as trivia
It has changed since then though hasn't it? None of the top clubs take it too seriously any more.Hell,a lot of them even bale out of the FA cup,
It, like the FA Cup, has become the Premier League's bitch. "If it ain't the Premier League it ain't worth jack" and all that rubbish. As I said before, a shame really.
