Look i didnt realise the original post had gone sorry looks like i am minority but i remember the days of Kevin Keegans time the excitement in the city the days when we could mix with the big boys and also to a degree Bobby Robson and his teams sorry I expect us to compete I didnt realise that people on here were so easily pleased and are obviously prepared to accept 2nd or even 3rd best. By the way in case anyone is under the illusion I am a glory hunter i remember well the days of Bobby Shinton, Billy Rafferty and Rob Macdonald then we didnt have any ambitions because we had not known success for so long. Basically hoy a few unknowns like Marveux and Cabaye and everyone is happy. We shall see how they will do in pressure games like Stadium of Light and on a crap Jan afternoon at Wigan. We should be be building round the core players by spending money and strengthening the squad not selling to buy as Ashley always does. Yes I despise Ashley and all he stands for. I just don't think he has any ambition at all. People have had a right go but I believe most people on here are short term. We shall see who is right I won't be posting I promise but I shall look with interest when I am proved right!!!!!

Just because your football knowledge doesn't go past the Premier League and the Champions League doesn't mean Cabaye and Marveaxu are unknown! Cabaye has got a good reputation in football after the past 2 seasons and has broke into the French national team. Who do you suggest we sign? Messi? Ronaldo?

    I actually dont mind ashley

He made crappy decisions until we got relegated then has been making class decisions.

Regardless of wether its luck or good furtune, he appointed hughton and he got us promoted with an amazing record breaking season and a TROPHY, doesnt matter if its the championship its a TROPHY.

Then he got rid of chrissy Hughts, we all though it was horrible, but Pardew has been fine, no worse than hughton so far and i think overall hes probably a better tactician.

He appointed Grahame Carr, who is immense.

Hes payed off all the debts, he has stabalised the club and changed the ethos.

Hes a dick for sure but you cant say hes all bad because theres far worse chairmen out there, carson young anyone? hahaha

I also remember the days after Keegan where we were pretty **** due to a case of building for today, forgetting the future

People like you are the reason people think newcastle fans are deluded thick twats.

The only way we will rise to the top one day is with stable progress, developing youth players, bringing in up and commers from abroad for good money, stabalising finances and league position, then hope that eventually one day we will build a squad that is good enough to get right up there.

We are doing all the right things, dont you get that?

For the first time in years i actually like our sqaud, our squad is class, we are one more goalscoring pacey striker away from an outside chance of the champions league if things go our way. I think we will have a great season and could get into europe.

    Im happy with that.

We tried spending big where did that get us. Yes a few seasons at the top then Ah yes RELEGATED. Now we have to learn to have a thing called patience.

I think alot of teams could get the 4th champions league spot depending on what happens, injuries bad/good runs of form etc

    Even Sunderland have a chance.

btw why do sunderland fans always come to this forum i never go to the sunderland forum or any other teams forum.

it would be better right now to get a couple new players in and see how the team settles before January. That way we still have a pot of money to spend on plugging the gaps when the problems with the current squad become clearer.

How miserable. I'll eat my hat if the top 6 is the same again next season, and stats from previously years will evidence this. Theres always the chance of an Everton, Villa, Fulham or even one of our teams sneaking in if anyone has a poor season. Chelsea, Man Utd and Man City will be up there but theres every chance that Spurs, Liverpool or even Arsenal could drop into 7th if they don't fire on all cylinders.
