John Hartson BBC Radio 5 live FULL-TIME Arsenal 1-2 Southampton "Southampton have been fantastic all night. Arsenal lost it in the first half when it could have been three or four. Arsenal didn't do enough. They were much more positive in the second half but couldn't break down the Southampton defence. And over the 90 minutes, Southampton thoroughly deserve to go through."
What a ****ing result, always fancied our chances when the draw was made but sounds like we were immense as well. Bring on the draw for the last 16, Middlesbrough at home will do... Also bring on Harry & Poch
Sanchez, Podolski, Rosicky, Oxo, Cazorla, Wilshere all on the pitch - but I'll bet the press play this as Arsenal reserves...
Really impressed by our defensive shape, Gardos was cool. Mane looked like he is too easily muscled off the ball at times but great work rate. Pelle was good and should've scored. Have we seen goal of the season tonight?
and you stood me up. It was embarrassing. I was all done up and sat in the corner, with the kids asking why I was dressed so smart to go on the computer. The humiliation.
All in front of a near sell out at the Emirates - does it get any better - you bet, when we smack twitchy and the gang on Saturday
If Boro can beat Liverpool now it'll be another perfect night of football. Really proud of that display from the lads at a ground we always historically have struggled at. Well done team and very well done Koeman. Happy, happy. Now where are my sandals?
My Gooner mate who was there, text me to say how good our no.10 was. "Pure class" were his words and he didn't realize that it was his first game with us and his first game in England. Stunning first display really.
Yep. He looks like he's going to be a real handful. Can you call your Dutch mate and let him know that Koeman is actually just fine when it comes to spending money.
I'm just going to put this out there. We need a better player than Steve Davis in his spot in the midfield rotation.
Defining the game there. Some things I did learn today - 1) Why we kept Clyne and sold Chambers 2) Pelle is, regardless of his goalscoring abilities, a stonking CF. Hold up play brilliant, unselfish, good man. 3) Tadic is bloody brave whacking the ball straight down the middle for a penalty. 4) Targett is not out of place at this level. 5) Arabic commentators become soothing in a strange way and don't p*ss me off like Merson does.
Mane definitely very good, but as Pie said, he needs to bulk up a bit. That or just get used to the physicality of the game. It isn't always all about strength.
Pelle may not score a million goals this season, but can we lay some of the praise for our midfield scoring renaissance at his impressive hold-up and lay off play?
