Agree with that, DH (and Longsight). That's what comes when you don't take the cup seriously. So we join Leicester and Blackpool in going down to the Shrews. It wouldn't have been a big sacrifice to have Jerome or Grabban on the bench. We got what we deserved and Shrewsbury played a great game. Full credit to them.
We're not Clenchwarton Academicals, we have beaten Blackpool, Leicester and PNE so far this season in the cups. We've got the players and will hopefully get out of L2 this season.
No offence mate but we hardly had a shot on goal and TBH I think our manager did not give you guys enough respect, yes you guys deserved to win tonight. I'm pissed off with our performance more than the result
You can't change all eleven players and expect to win games, even against lower league opposition. The core of the team must be retained and then the youngsters / fringe players added around them. Big mistake tonight Mr Adams I hope you learn from this.
Well done Shrews and thanks again for giving us Grant Holt I hope you win the thing ... We showed arrogance in our team selection and were shown up ....
So far Adams does seem to have learnt from his mistakes so let's hope this serves as another lesson, although if he persists with 4-4-2 I'll be a tad concerned.
Big opportunity for a few players to 'stake a claim' for playing against Blackpool today. Didn't feel that anyone really did that. I can't say that I'm that surprised with the result, by the sounds of it the Shrews thoroughly deserved to win. Good luck to them in the next round, hope they get a big Prem team. From our point of view, the team contained a lot of players who not only haven't played much football together, but haven't played much football at all. Still, good to see Howson and Hooper back. Lafferty has 4 yellow cards for us now this season. He needs to calm down a bit and concertante on his football. Thought he looked good when he came on against Brum. Perhaps not.
That might be so, but he's still only a championship level defender, and at the time he left we were building a Premier League squad. It was the right time for him to leave, you can't keep players hanging around because one day they might be useful again. You could say the same of Andrew Crofts.
I don't know where that came from I was praising an ex player for his fine display against Liverpool... Is that still allowed?
The ellipses on the end read to me something like "Oh look, here's a young ex-canary playing well whilst our defence are floundering against a league 2 side". Perhaps I misinterpreted then.
