Fernandez is looking better every game. What shall we do with Amat - to much there to sit on the bench - can he play full back?
Agree, the intensity of the work rate is there all the time lately but things weren't quite going for us early on...not finding any rhythm, but once they got into their stride mid-way through the 1st half they kept it going right to the last whistle. We played some lovely stuff. My favourite performances on the night were from Montero (obviously), Shelvey, Jazz and Gomis (who I think is carrying a knock, but playing through it). Carroll was very useful as well, doing the simple stuff, making himself available and linking everybody else up....dare I say it, just like Leon. Fernandez made some good tackles also, kept on top of Lukaku which is no mean feat. Nobody had a bad game really but for me, once again, Taylor was the weakest link...didn't use possession well and positioned himself badly. He played ok whereas everybody else played at least 'good', that's how I see it anyway. I would put Jazz straight in for Taylor on Saturday but I think Monk will persist with Taylor a little longer and introduce Jazz slowly from the subs bench if he doesn't pick up (just a hunch)
It took over a 100 years but we finally beat the jinx.......superb display by everyone that sends Martinez home with a few problems to sort out this season as everton were ****e....
Tremmel did brilliantly, he stopped a couple of certain impending goals. His sweeper tackle was world class stuff that even the commentators acknowledged as perfect.
Everton manager Roberto Martinez: "The scoreline reflects the team that took the chances. During long spells we stopped Swansea from playing. It was an important game for us - for players who haven't played many minutes and to see where they are. "If you analyse the chances Swansea had, they were few and far between. We had two or three very good situations. In many aspects, I was fairly pleased with that."
Can Jazz play left back? If so then he deserves his chance. I thought Fernandez was that good tonight, I forgot that Lukaku was playing at times. As for Montero, well, awesome.
What a perfect performance from start to finish, and my best mate Emnes getting on the score sheet, what more could I ask!.... please log in to view this image Well done Garry Monk, job well done.............
In regards to Martinez's comments I don't count crosses and deep probing passes into the box as chances. Chances are what makes the keeper move to stop the ball going into the net if the ball is circa 1 foot out to the side of the post and anything inwards from there. Everton had three chances all match, we had three goals and the American still made several good saves. They actually got just two shots anywhere near on target which is pretty bad. As far as chances go we fecking pummelled them
funny how a lot of everton fans on the bbc live were saying they were sh++ but Martinez thought they were great
Aaah feck. 2-1 Liverpool...they're still in it. Which other Prem teams are still in the draw with us, anyone?
