They should make it legal for cyclists to be on paths again. One major cycling event on TV and every **** is having a go over the hills towards Raywell. And they should ban lycra shorts for anybody under 40.

ACPO instructions are to tolerate cycling on the footway as long as it's safe, as they recognise a lot of car drivers are incompetent. You'd struggle to do it to Raywell though, as there's no footways on much of it. <ok>

DOT guidance varies, but they suggest anything over 18mph, and in some cases even 10 mph and cyclists shouldn't be on the footway or even in shared cycle lanes.

To be fair, cyclists, horses and pedestrians are on the highway as of right, unlike cars, which need specific permissions and conditions.

Some prat on Sunday driving a car pulling a caravan gave me a load of abuse for riding on the road instead of the cycle lane between Barmby Moor and Pock. I didn't use the cycle lane as it had quite a few people walking dogs and pushing prams, as well as other cyclists going a lot slower than I was.

It's one of the reasons I don't like cycle lanes, they give people the impression cycles shouldn't be on the road. They're usually in a very poor state, don't go anywhere you'd want to go and add extra dangers at the points you need to rejoin the carriageway. I'll stick to the road and hope someone educates drivers.

My laughing response to one blokes suggestion I should be on the cycle path was 'not half as much as you should chubby'.

You are right the only punctures I have had recently are on cycle lanes.
