i did say ' very slightly possibly ' and also that it was based purely on the population size for Luton, Plymouth and Bradford.
I really cannot see how half of those you mention are 'bigger' 1950. I can only assume that you are comparing our present club with those of yesteryear. **** me, Bolton were getting smaller crowds than us when they were in the Prem. I would even go as far as to say that many of those you mention are in fact 'smaller' than 1p5wich ! We have grown as a club over the years while many have regressed and I stand by what I posted earlier, currently we are in the top 20-25 in England IMO
You see the thing is KIO as a Town fan I'm not really interested in this whole debate about sizes of clubs. I'm proud to be a supporter of my little old club because we are a relatively small club that over the years has achieved great things. If you think you support a massive club then fair play to you I'm just happy supporting little old Ipswich Town!
Just imagine the **** flying from you guys if this appeared on the feeds utd site. Budgie rule 556 - we are the only club that can say we are massive. You are as a club the same as many (including ourselves) in the championship, neither massive or small, no need to inflate your ego by pretending otherwise, just makes you look silly. This is just new signing guff, nothing more, nothing less.
It certainly wouldn't have ruffled my feathers, in fact I wouldn't even have known because I only look at the Norwich board on this site and don't waste my life away trawling and obsessing over anybody else's.
Bolton as a place is bigger than us, their catchment area is bigger than ours, their ground is bigger than ours, their history since the war is better than ours, their recent history - competing in Europe within the last 10 years - is better than ours but we are the bigger Club because our gates in our last year in the Premiership were bigger than their gates in their last season in the Premiership? Interesting.
This is what happens when we enter into this debate! It is all about perception and there is not one defining answer and to be perfectly honest who cares anyway! These kind of debates should just stay in the playground.
How is Bolton's catchment area bigger than ours? The city of Norwich has a higher population than Bolton, and that's not including all the surrounding area. The north-west might be more populated than Norfolk is but look at how many teams there are up there battling out for the good youngsters - it's almost an hour drive to our nearest opposition, and almost two hours to the nearest Premiership club. I'd say we've got a hell of a catchment area personally.
So you shouldn't debate anything that is a matter of perception or opinion only debate things that have a defined answer. How can you debate something where the proven answer is known? Incredible words of wisdom from Portaloo Road!!!
you forget JWM, there must hundreds of seals on blakeney point and they must be norwich fans if they are in norfolk.
I like 50s he knows how to make a thread interesting , all the agreement on here does my head in sometimes..
Ermm, ok. I'm very happy for you! I do hope 1950 wasn't serious about leaving. Thread was jogging along nicely before the 'binner intervention', as is so often the case.
