I prefer brown bread but I also prefer toasted white bread. For some strange reason brown bread toasted just does not taste right. The Mariner restaurant in Aberdeen does a wonderful home made Balmoral bread. Brown and nutty. Goes wonderfully well with the Cullen Skink soup. I realise though that everyone has their own opinions and I would not want to ram my opinions down your throats like some militant yes voter.
Quite. It never ceases to amaze me just how many toasters are badly designed and cannot accommodate your average slice of bread.
The only trouble with toasters is that it proves rather difficult to get the beans out for your beans on toast.
White bread is fabulous. Unfortunately it's loaded with salt which is what makes it taste so good. Brown bread is ****. It is palatable when toasted with a fried/poached egg on top. Otherwise it's just ****. Give me some tiger bread and a selection of cheeses with some red wine and am in heaven. Or, just give me the wine, and am in heaven.
