Not that many among the City faithful will notice, but our plucky neighbours down at North Ferriby take their first steps in the FA Cup this weekend, as they prepare to play in the Second Qualifying Round. Last season saw the Villagers make it as far as the 4th Qualifying Round, only to be cruelly beaten at home by Alfreton Town.

This weekend's opponents come in the form of Cleethorpes Town, forming somewhat of a non-league Humber Derby. 'The Clee' currently sit 9th in the Northern Counties East League - Premier Division, one place above Bridlington Town following a 1-0 win over Heanor Town last weekend and should represent little challenge for the green and whites.

This game is being dubbed as 'The biggest in The Owl's history', according to a club spokesman; unsurprising then that Ferriby represent a rather large hurdle for Cleethorpes, perched a mighty 69 places above them.

A nice little bit of FA Cup trivia here; Cleethorpes actually play their games at the Bradley Community Stadium in Grimsby, while neighbours Grimsby Town play in Cleethorpes.

Gates open at 1.30pm for a 3pm KO.

Prices are £5 for adults, £2 for concessions and Under 16's. Ferriby are putting on a coach trip for away fans and there are a fair few going already. If you can't get a ticket for City, it'll be a great day out for any fan of the game, plus another ground to tick off.

Don't forget to keep an eye out for the world renowned London Tigers, they're away to Needham Market.

I can see where he's coming from now, guaranteed success.

    Wonderful.

Shame that most of the funny named teams have gone south. Love the early rounds of the FAC with many pub type teams involved. Now 2 rounds from the First round proper. North Ferriby should get through to the next round when the VPL teams come into it.

Fingers crossed for NFU getting to the first round proper. Cleethorpes Town should be seen off by the Villagers.

One player that will be facing NFU is Jack Barlow, who's just been released by Boston United after a mutual contract termination and has joined Cleethorpes Town on non-contract terms....

Needham Market 5 London Tigers 2

Unlucky but it's been said that most supporters don't care that Needham did a "MK Dons" on them in the cup as all that matter is the Spartan South Midlands League Premier Division.

World domination is just around the corner, it's a "Tiger" thing.

North Ferriby are drawn at home to Grantham in third qualifying round of FA Cup, two more wins and they are in the first round proper.

NFU home to Grantham Town on saturday 11th october ko 3pm. International break weekend.

Non-league weekend again. NFU should do the same sort of deal as last time for season card/ticket holders of other pro clubs in the area.

That's a great draw for them, easily winnable. If the fourth round is favourable, then they're laughing.

I think it finished 2-1, but for an out of form side with a few injuries they've done well. If the draw is good, we might see them in the first round proper.

    The names they'll want are:

    Evesham United
    Barwell (Leicester's non-league neighbours)
    Kings Lynn Town
    Spennymoor Town
    Norton United
Witham Town (not the Witham near us)
    Dorchester Town
    Canvey Island
Frome Town (if they beat Boreham Wood away, unlikely)
    Harrow Borough
    Burgess Hill Town
    Willand Rovers FC
    Greenwich Borough or Redhill
Warrington Town (if they beat Colwyn Bay, again unlikely)
Shildon FC (if they win away at Stourbridge in the replay, not going to happen)

Same level or two levels below. Got a chance although they are away.

It's official, North Ferriby United will play away at Warrington Town for a place in the first round proper for the very first time. Warrington play two levels below, so it shouldn't prove too stern a test. Looking forward to ticking off another ground!!

Also, funnily enough, Shildon Town did beat Stourbridge away, so shows what I know! <laugh>
