Interesting to find out his mind set in Jan. It's not just (though mostly) the league position, I think he was a little under Poch's / Cortese's spell. Both daddys left, Schneiderlin sad. New daddy Koeman nice, make Morgan feels warm and good again. (Though uncle Sammy is a bit scary).
I thought about that but there midfield today was Fabregas, Matic and Ramires. Ramires is the box to box player out of that lot and Morgan is better than him.
Putting my prediction hat on again, I'm thinking Morgan could be going to either Barca or Real Madrid as they continue to embark on reshaping their midfield next summer. Real have lost Alonso, and could be saying Adios to Kherida, while Barca's midfield is getting a bit long in the tooth and may need freshening up!!! If this happens he will go with my good wishes. If he goes to Spurs or Manchster United, I would be disappointed as these clubs are a downgrade on what he should be looking for and where he is at present!!
@SchneiderlinMo4: Was a good result against swansea this weekend ! Now focus on our cup game tomorow vs arsenal !
I can't see Snidders going to Spurs in January because I will be really surprised if MoPo is still there by XMas. I could see an EPL failing giant throwing silly money at him but not sure whether Saints will consider but come summer I could see a Spanish Giant coming after him and wouldn't begrudge him that move as long as the price is right. One more season is all I am expecting sadly
A move to another EPL team would be at best a sideways move, when an outstanding season for us could see him playing for one of the two highest profile clubs in the world.
I still think he will be Carrick's replacement although I think the price will be £40m by the summer.
We may think he is worth 35-40 million, but no one will pay that. This summer was exceptional. The idea may get around soon that Saints' players, like fine wine, don't travel well.
This summer's spending orgy in the PL was a response to a massive increase in TV revenue. If that revenue stream remains unaltered then £35-40 million for unproven players with perceived potential will not be exceptional by any means. £10-£12 million will be standard for average premiership players. Only Newcastle will expect to pay less.
Morgan wants to lead Saints into Europe and win the League Cup: http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/11489060.display/
What have they put in his tea? Obviously a sensible person who accepts what he can't change and gives his all once he has licked his wounds. He has now discovered that life is good again and has not been destroyed by having to stay at a club where he is loved and appreciated. Not sure I like that reference to 'a year', but at least it puts paid to the idea that he is leaving in January.
I said quite early last season that I thought Saints were better than the sum of their parts...we played great as a team and were a pleasure to watch, but didn't have truly great individual players. ManU and Liverpool may not have realised this.
I'm sorry Fran, but as much as I'm annoyed at Twatface and am openly enjoying his lack of form at Liverpool, he is a great player, capable of truly great individual moments. Let's not run too far away from the reality in our quest to downplay the departed heroes of last season.
I agree. Morgan and Lallana were/are truly great players. The difference is simply that at Saints Lallana had the freedom and was the focal point. With Liverpool Sterling has been given that mantle and the clueless Brenda has put the shackles on Lallana using him as a box to box down the centre type player............similar to the role that aged has been that is for some reason playing as a DM used to do. Adkins tried to 'limit' Lallana to being a winger when we got to the Prem and that resulted in him having a pretty bad start to that season (then got injured) before he was set free and showed how good he was (is.) I hope that he remains shackled at Liverpool while Sterling remains the chief possession loser and he is branded a flop It simply isn't a case of Saints being better than the sum of their parts. It is a case of us playing players where they are best. Brenda is playing an ageing AM in the DM role, a tricky winger has the free role and the one he should give the free role to is being played as a disciplined box to box CM. I wonder why they aren't doing that well Morgan would slot in at any team in this league (in the right position) and I don't think any top teams are going to turn their noses up at £40m if he has another good season. His stats over those seasons will not have been missed.
Lallana had, and still has, great potential. His first touch and his close control are better than that of probably any current English player. But can he be called a great player? He hasn't proved it yet, but I suspect he will.
